E63 lease special- $999 a month

It took MBUSA 3 years to offer a $999 a month lease on the E55. But less than a year to offer the same deal on a E63.

$ 91,700 MSRP- 33 month/ $6900 drive-off/ 10,000 miles a year= $999 per month.

E63's are not selling! :X

bfnnrgn 05-04-2007 10:44 PM

Are they not selling or did they just make too many of them? Around here it's not always easy to find an AMG on the lot. Waiting lists etc. When the 63s came out you could walk on the lot and drive one off. E63, CLS63, CLK63 all available.

JLP 05-04-2007 10:49 PM

I'm sure its a regional thing, but I doubt that MB has built more than usual.

IIRC AMG built roughly 1000 or more E55's per year during its run, I would estimate that they are building the same amount of E63's.

Its more likely that people just aren't buying them as fast as MB anticipated!

bfnnrgn 05-04-2007 11:01 PM

I wonder if I should make the switch. I'm paying $1,400 a month, straight finance with a 5.2% rate on a 60month. I got about 3 years left. The equity in my E55 would cover the 7k down. Then I'd only pay the 1k a month. Of course there's tax etc. Wonder what the catch is on this $999 lease deal. Mileage isn't an issue. My E55 only has 14k miles on it. I've never leased before. Hmmm, what do you think?

jangy 05-04-2007 11:05 PM

I only lease, but then I also write it off and use the money saved to aggressively invest. If I do well, I get another nice car. If not, it'll be a Honda Accord for $199.

Personally I rather own a 55 than a 63. From a financially savvy point of view unless you have the need or ability to write-off a portion of your lease I would keep the 55.

$7000 drive off plus $33,000= $40,000 to rent a E63 for less than 3 years.:smash:

True. But this is also valid. I paid $85k for the E55 after discounts. $85k + finance charges @5.2% = $89k After 5 years when it's paid off, assuming I even keep it that long, it'll be worth what? $25k-$30k at the most if that. $89k - $25k/$30k = $54k/$49k over 5 years. That doesn't include that the warranty on the 55 will be up before 5 years.

After the 3 year lease what is the buy price on the E63?

It's really a lose lose no matter what, but I don't care. I'm enjoying them. :zoom:

Though I will admit I like the crazy torque of the 55. However ever since I got the SLK55 I rarely drive the E55. SLK is just much more fun to drive.

supercharge it!

Since we are on the topic of E63 pricing. I was looking at used E63s. What is a good price for a used E63 with 10k miles? Would it still be more favorable to lease a new one?

MOROSO55 05-05-2007 12:24 AM

LEASING ISN'T ALWAYS A BAD WAY TO GO. THERE ARE ABOUT 5 GUIDLINES THAT YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BEFORE DOING A LEASE.

-OBVIOUSLY STAY UNDER THE ALLOCATED MILEAGE

-YOU HAVE TO HAVE GOOD CREDIT(BUT ON A 55 EITHER WAY (lease or finance)YOU HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST A 700 SCORE)

-IDEALY TRY TO PUT THE LEAST MONEY DOWN MAINLY BECAUSE YOU WILL LOSE THAT DOWNPAYMENT MONEY GODFORBID AN ACCIDENT,STOLEN, ETC. INSTEAD A FINANCE YOU HAVE EQUITY IN THE LOAN

-AT THE END OF THE LEASE DEPENDING ON WHICH GUY YOU GET TO LOOK OVER YOU CAR YOU CAN SOMETIMES OCCUR A HEFTY BILL EVEN FOR NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. SCRATCHED RIMS, TIRE TREAD/CONDITION, AND A TINTED REAR WINDOW(THEY CHARGE YOU FOR A WHOLE NEW WINDOW BECAUSE THEY SAY WHEN THEN HAVE TO TAKE OF THE TINT IT DAMAGES THE DEFROSTER COILS. AND OF COURSE EVERYTHING IS EXTREMLY PRICE INFLATED.:smash:

-LASTLY, YOU CAN'T GO CRAZY WITH ANY PERFORMANCE UPGRADES BECAUSE THEN YOU GOTTA RIP EVERYTHING OUT.

IT MAY SOUND BAD TO SOME BUT I USED TO LEASE ALL THE TIME AND AS LONG AS YOUR CAREFULL IT CAN BE VERY BENIFICAL. IF YOU HAVE A BUSNIESS ITS A GREAT WRITE OFF AND A LEASE CAN GET YOU A NEW VEHICLE AT A DECENT PAYMENT. WHILE WHERE ON THE TOPIC USED CAR LEASING ON THE OTHER HAND IS NOT ADVISED, SOMETIMES IT WORKS ONLY IF YOUR GETTING A BENTLEY OR FERRARI OF THAT KIND:

Why would you want to buy an E63? They’re slow and have no torque.

Just repeating what many 55 owners have said on this board (all in good fun)…I have lined up with many 55’s and despite the popular rhetoric “55’s have much more torque thus they are much faster” (40 pounds by the way), I have not seen any of them through my front windshield whilst racing. Also lined up with a few M5’s and M6’s, and even tough they have “no torque” (80 lbs less than the 63 - 120 lbs less than the 55), similar to the 55, they have managed to stay right with me.

7k in drives is steep. Why lease a car and put 7k into it? With no money down your pmt is in the 1200's including tax, granted the money factor and term stays the same.

Doesnt seem that great of deal to me. I would need to see what the gross cap cost is as well as the money factor and residual. Knowing MBZ the residual and MF are sky high.

I am little confused, if you are paying 1400 per month for 60 months then your total of payments is 84k and that means your amount financed was much less since the 84k equals amount financed plus finance charges. Oh and your math on paying 84k at 5.2% equalling about 89k is way off since your loan is amortized over 60 months. Can you please clarify?

Put it this way: I just gave a 109k loan at 84 months at 6.00% and the total payments are 1610 per month or 135240 dollars over the life which is a difference of 26240. If we took your computations then 6% of 109k is 6540 which only totals 115540. Hope this makes sense.

I think I will lease one for the wife so I can DRAG it :-)

I did not include the ~$7k in equity from the trade in of the CLS 500 and I put down $6k in cash as well. The exact figures of the total financed is fuzzy, it's been a long time since I did the paperwork. I was only talking abuot the total cost of the car, not how much I put down etc. If you want to include tax it's 6.25% as well.

Does the $6,900 include the first month's payment or any other fee or strictly capital cost reduction?

Try buying a 2004 Model for $90k and struggling to sell for $50k 3 yrs later. Much tougher to sell than just return the car to the dealer. I believe this is the reason the resale of used Benzes is so ****ty. It's a self fulfiling prophecy where it always ends up making more sense to lease. I know my next Benz will be a lease.

ProV1 05-05-2007 07:15 PM

either paying $40k for a lease or losing $40k in 3 yrs when you buy, you're screwed in the ass. MBs, AMG or not lose value too damn fast. i never understood why AMGs have such horrible resale values, given the limited production numbers and high profile. BMW M cars do so much better.
