Hello ladies and gents.

After my usual swapping around some cars for the first time in my life I've actually come back to a car I previously owned - which must mean something, right? Car is an '05 - obsidian black/charcoal, pano, park, keyless go, nav, 319 lighting, electronic trunk & active/vented seats. That's pretty much everything except the distronic, just like my previous '03. It took a LONG time to find the right optioned car, but it was worth the wait. Car's being picked up today or tomorrow, should have it middle of next week.

I look forward to participating on this forum and sharing the enjoyment of these wonderful cars - I really must tell you that in spite of all the cars I've owned and driven, few things speak so well to my particular tastes like the W211 E55 AMG.

I hope everyone will be cheering for Alonso this weekend in Spain!

Hey trouble maker. I've got a story for you... but that's for some other time.

I sold the 600 to a local guy - it was a fantastic car, but at this point in my life it just wasn't the right car for me. I actually replaced it with the Z06, which couldn't be any more different (they both have keyless go, at least, haha) - but the Z06 suits what I want in my weekend car - a loud, raw, brutal sports car that makes your heart pound every second you are on the throttle. 3100lbs and 505hp makes for quite a fun drive. $1500 and I've got 500rwhp. I could go on and on - I'm not saying the Z06 is better or anything, just for what I want, it's the better choice. It was also considering a GT3 or a 996TT, but I fell into this Z06 so it won.

Anyways I too have been thinking Z06 off and on but is it functional is a 3-4 time a week driver? Was your 600 modded and if so did it pull close to your Z06? How is the comfort in that car? (Z06)- The wife has never opposed any of my car choices but for some reason she balks at me getting a Vette.

My father drives his Lingenfelter 427 every day to work, in traffic. The best thing about these cars is that they're daily driveable, if you can take the harsher ride. I also know a lawyer who drives his C6 Z06 to and from work every day.

Cursed is not the words for those wheels and the story after the got f'd up by the detailer. The story is worthy of a novel.

Drop me an email - it's an interesting discussion that can get quite lengthy. Bottom line - the Z06 is my first American car and I am well aware of it's short commings compared to other offerings. I've had the great fortune of having been able to drive a lot of cars, so my reference point I feel is less based on speculation and more on experience.

I'm 6'5" 225lbs and I would have no qualms about driving this car everyday. It's no E55 but it's very comfortable for a sports car.

My SL600 was RENNTech Stage 1 and I can't say for sure but I do think my Z06 would pull on it.

It's really quite enjoyable. I mean something about the performance capabilities of this car all with a full warranty are just very appealing. These cars roll off the showroom floor like this and they are meant to be driven. The '07s have 100k mile warranties! I mean, if that's not reason to put some miles on the car, what is?

Obviously there are other cars that give you similar performance (for example the 997TT, 997GT3, etc) but like with my SL once you really get into cars that are considerably into the 6 figure range you start to "worry" about them a lot more - at least I do - and that sometimes detracts from how much you can enjoy it.

I must say...You headers working good...You probably wish now you still had them since you are getting another E55...

Are you going to mod it ??? or you have Z06 for it ???

Mod e55 can be faster the stock Z06 but for 5k you can make Z06 616HP car...We have one here and its a monster...

Guys,

Thank you all for the warm reception, I really always loved the comaraderie on this forum. The car arrived yesterday, loving every second. I definitely think some power mods are in line for this car now that the aftermarket for them seems to have really heated up and made some progress. How far I will go, who knows...
