Brakes - Rubbing sound

Hello everyone, I am new to this site. Amazed at the ECU reset, had to go out at 12am to try this otherwise i would not be able to sleep. After a bit of heavy breaking, I can hear a rubbing sound from the brakes / wheel - passenger side when I have my foot of the brake pedal. This only happens after a hard run. Any idea what this could be? The dealer bleed the break fluid and I had an SBC (i think thats what it is called) upgrade. Thanks AK.

Could be your brake disc is warped happened to me, you can feel it through the brake pedal as well. Kind of like going over a bump when braking hard..sort off!!

Could you explain the ECU reset please and what it does?????

Explain rubbing. Is it a grinding noise or what?
You shouldn't be getting feedback from the brake pedal. At best, it is just residual vibrations that come through. If that is the case, then a small feel to the pedal may mean bigger issues below.

I just can't see where warped rotors would cause rubbing? Grinding makes sense, but brakes don't rub, do they?

Yes, each time the wheel does a rotation you can hear a more rubbing than grinding. (The sound is not like worn pads where there is a constant grinding when applying break) this is more a rubbing sounds, as if something is resting against the break disc, like a woosh woosh noise. Sorry i cant be more specific. I dont get any feedback through the break pedal.

Sounds like a subtle rub. Look under the wheel and see if anything is loose. Being something like brakes, I'd get a tech to check it out.

Hi, done this already. The did bleed the brakes and two new alloys on the front. Only happens after very high speeds and heavy breaking. On a normal run I cannot hear this noise. Also how do you know when your brake discs need replacing?

Typically, the width of the disc is what is tracked to decide when to replace. But, you can replace them sooner for other reasons. They may be warped beyond repair, have cracks in them at the air holes, or whatever.

ok just back from a small run and when I stopped the heat of the disc was burning hot. the noise worsened, so loud that when I rang MB, the guy on the other end of the phone could hear the noise. So looks like a sticking caliper. Recovery truck comming tomorrow to collect car. Ah well what do you expect from MB quality. Only had car 3 weeks. 1st I C pump went, next is the breaks....

Hmmmm, makes some sense. Make sure they replace EVERYTHING, since you have heated things up pretty good by now.

MB came out today to look at the car. A spring loaded clip had broke that holds the pins in the keeps the brake pad in place. This was rubbing againt the disc. Thanks for your help!
