Amg 63 R&d #1

Ladies and Gentlemen:
The time has come to unlock the power secrets of AMG M156 6.2L Engine. Let me introduce you to our latest project vehicle - 2007 E63. The car has been lowered through STAR and has 20'' Vellano Forged Wheels with 245/35 on the front and 275/30 in the back. I will be taking it to the dealer tomorrow to make sure it has all of the latest software upgrades done. After that it goes on the Dynojet for a baseline. I am working on a line of performance products. I will post more information within next several days. All of the parts, with exception of some exhaust components, should work on all 63 accross all chassis (S/CL/E/CLS/C/ML/R/CLK). As we progress I will confirm the application. Thank you for listening. |
Nice, can't wait to see the numbers:y
|
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah but will it run an 11sec. 1/4 mile?
BTW cool wheels. |
This is excellent as I have not found much for the 63! Any pics of the car from the side so that I can see the wheels better?

Thank you! Here you go. I just got a blk/blk E63, I'm looking for wheels too, can you post up closer shots of the wheels, they look good. I'm thinking about going toward that direction or HRE 847R painted blk like MOGZ'S. THANKS |

wheels look great and looking forward to some new parts for the e63, i bet those rims would look sick with a matte black power coat on the white car
|
Hey Vadim,
Can you post more pics of your E63? I would like to see pics of the car where the pano roof can be seen from the front and back. Thank you! :) |
Good luck Vadim....can't wait to see how you unlock the power of this motor... :D

Hi Vadim, car looks great... :y
Can't wait for the upgrade numbers... :D :D |
Eagerly awaiting the results of your project. Please keep us informed. Will you be posting in the E forum only or other 63 vehicles? BTW unlike some here I too love (your) chrome accented wheels. Would they work on an silver SL600?
|

Took the car to MB of South Bay earlier today and got latest engine and transmission software flashed. Car had software from "tuner wanna-be", who shall remain un-named, and was audibly detonating under part and wide open throttle.
From there I ran it to Powertain Dynamics for a quick baseline. Car does have 20'' wheels and although they are forged and lighter than most cast wheels they still add unsprung weight. I have dynoed several 63s in the past and they were in 420RWHP range. AMG rates the car at 504HP, so 420/504 = 0.833, which represents 17% drivetrain loss. Which corresponds to my previous experience dynoying MBs/AMGs. I was expecting to be down about 15-20HP, due to the wheels. This is exactly what we saw - 400RWHP and 365RWTQ. I do have a set of stock wheels and will redyno the car sometime this week. |
Now that you’ve established your baseline, it’s all uphill (numbers wise) from here!
Is it running a bit rich for a NA motor? Best wishes with all of your R&D. What a great job you have done to inform and enlighten AMG fanatics through the years. Keep it coming! :y |

I know the wheels are robbing power, but 365 rwtq is not enough. 335i w/ procede are putting that and more... Last question VADIM: IHow much for a Dyno session with you? I have ASP pullies and I'm not sure if I getting all the power from the car. |

Why does the fine print on the bottom left of the chart read 417hp & 410ft-lbs? |
