After 2 weeks they realize my Differential is Cracked

how much should this cost me? I feel like they are ripping me off at 6k with installation they wanted 4k for the part. Also they said all that was visibly noticeable was the cracked cover to hold the fluid in and thats what ruined the differential because no proper fluid was lubricating the differential

Anything associated with that assembly is going to be expensive. I just replaced my rear axle, and they were fearing that the differential may have been damaged due to the fluid leak. Luckily I didn't drive it after the axle failed. I had it towed to the dealership. The bill came to a little over $2000 for just the axle and labor. I'm glad that there was no differential damage because who knows how much that would have set me back. They said that the book states that it's 3.5 hours to remove and 3.5 hours to reinstall the differential cover so about half of the tab was for the labor.
