Low oil?!

I have been getting a message that says add one quart of oil at next fueling... what's going on? My E55 only has 35k miles on it?! Has there been history of bad sensors? I can not imagine this car is burning oil that fast already. please help.

I would take it in. It could be legit. Maybe they never filled it fully and so a little burn off could trigger it. Also, yes the sensor can go bad overtime, so that is a possibility. How many miles since the last change?

My tech says that he has changed literally dozens of oil sensors over the years, but very few on E55's for some weird reason. Just changed mine and am not getting the error anymore.

Gotta be careful though. If you keep adding a quart when it's just a sensor, can be bad obviously.

NOW IF AMG WOULD HAVE JUST GIVEN US A DIPSTICK!!!!

Do a search. It has happened alot around here. Mine even came one at 6k miles. These just seem to burn oil a bit. Again do a search. I don't think you have a problem. I have a dip stick

But the burning is an E63 issue, it hasn't been one for the E55s.

Keep in mind that we use synthetic and this it is thinner than conventional, but still my car burns very little but I do changes every 5K miles.

Yeah, I've heard of the issue many times on the E63 and even more on the S63, but not much on the E55. Most likely it'll be something minor. Take it in......

Yep MB has had a history of faulty oil level sensors. Have the dealership do a level check with a dipstick and then go from there...

sounds good. I am confident it is a sensor. Best case I get a new motor!

i'll second that...since i just had my second oil sensor replaced. sure it's a pita but the bright side is that you get a free oil change out of it (they have to drain the oil to change the sensor).

I've been getting that message just before my last two oil changes (change oil every 5,000 miles). At first my tech said it's normal and our engine does burn some oil (I assume C55 and E55 have the same engine minus SC) and given my milage at the time - 70K - I was OK with that explanation. But when the same message come up JUST before my oil change at 75K I thought it was weird. Again I was told that it's normal and after oil change message went away. But what are the chances of the message poping up just around every 5K miles 2 times in a row? It's got to be burning oil at the very consistent level. Then this week I see a thread on C32/C55 forum where the owner of C55 notes that his add oil message was connected to loose valve covers and after the fix his oil consumption is back to normal. I'm taking my car in to check for those loose valve covers with my next oil change.
Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to say that it might be more to it then just faulty sensors.
