THANKS! I often wondered when my belt was going to break or slip as well as how much my the dealer was going to rob me for it. 10 minutes to find my tools, and 1 min to switch it out. I knew on my Vortech S/C Mustang GT, it was a common thing I needed to change out.

This was hands down the easiest repair I have done on the beast to date. Place wrench on bolt, turn to the left and align hole on tensioner with hole on engine block, insert allen key, take off belt and install new belt. It literally took me less then 1 minute.

Love the easy repair jobs

Andy
I have the same pulley on my SL. It does require a different belt. If you have not bought one, I have the part number from Napa that I used to replace mine but unfortunately it is in my office. Let me know.

Remember to add about 8-10 mm if you have phenolic heat spacers

Sorry to revive an old thread. Just want to thank the OP on this great DIY. It really is that easy. After figuring out what is what, this literally takes less than 1 minutes to do. I want to encourage the the not-so-mechanically inclined like myself to perform this job if you haven't done so. My belt had visible shredding on the side, and I'm glad there are wonderful contributors on this forum posting great information like this.

Is there a thread or something with abbreviations I'm suppose to know about?

I have a friend that sends me text like that. I asked if he was getting charged by the letter when he texts someone.
I thought only teenage girls did that.
