4Matic AMG E Class?

I'd absolutely love one and would trade my E55 wagon for one tomorrow. I live in snow country. I have an Explorer ONLY because the E55 is just so-so in the winter.

Why doesnt AMG pull their heads out of their @$$e$ and use the 4Matic system that MB already has and just use it in the AMG E class?!?!?! It would sell like crazy and Audi wouldnt have the ***** to sell the S6/RS6 anymore, in ANY country. As much as I love the RS6, I would love it a lot less if the AMG E class had 4 wheel drive...

I wouldnt even take my car in the snow, but it would be nice to have that extra confidence through the turns. 4Matic is the only thing that could make me trade in my car. If these cars had 4Matic there wouldntbe a car out there that could touch them. It would truely be the pinnacle of the sport/luxury cars.

Wasnt there a w210 4matic???
Now with the R and ML 63's 4matic I am sure they will be available in other AMG cars soon too.

It required modification of the floorpan and added 200+ kilos to the car's already hefty weight.
Newer 4-matic is more compact, lighter.

Not to mention the not so insignificant amount of jack it would take to add...I think Victor had addressed this in threads way back...weight and cost were limiting factors.

Most of us are burnin' tires on 1-wheel since a vast majority of AMG's DO NOT have LSD rears (or any type of posi rears)!! ARRGHHHH!!!

'12 Mustang 5.0, '89 Supra Turbo, C55,
BUT, I'll say those Supra owners that convert to auto are doing it for dragging. Plenty of high hp Supras (and other cars) out there who would NEVER convert to auto.
Actually, I apologize, my post was OT. The topic was about AWD AMG's, not stick shift AMG'S.

Mercedes E55 AMG
I've often asked myself just that. The added weight of the AWD would be partially offset by the fact the car could finally get decent traction off the line instead of loosing power to wheel spin. I live in the Seattle area where it rains constantly and I'm tired of having a supercar only in the dry. When it rains, my wife driving her Infiniti FX45 embarrasses me in streetlight drag races. Of course there is no comparison when it's dry out but why should I live in shame half the year?

I dont really have any trouble with my car in the rain (not that it ever rains in SoCal, but when it does I do fine), but I would just love to be able to take those turns better. Imagine driving through the canyons in a 4WD E55/63! I know you're all smiling now. The 4WD is the only thing that makes me love the S6/RS6 (im still madly in love with the old RS6) but if the E55 had it I wouldnt even hesitate about hesitating.
