Is it this bulb you are talking about.
I just dealt with this this weekend. HUUGGEE pain in the A!!!!
To change out the bulb, you literally have to pry back the front part of the front fender inner plastic liner to get at it. Benz says you can take the bottom plastic piece off and get at it from underneath. YEAH RIGHT!!! Unless you are a 6 year boy with tiny arms, no way you can get at it.
Follow the first part of this to get that liner off.

Its not. E63s are different from E55s. You have to reach in from behind. Coming in from the front doesn't work. Someone posted getting in through the front wheel well.

I was talking about actual bulb replacement on an E55. If you are popping out the entire piece to replace with a clear etc, then I messed you all up.
Not really sure how to do that.

Okay, I felt like an idiot so I popped mine out and snapped some pics.
Actually wished I researched this before I tried this weekend. My hands are still healing from damage.
Hope I didn't do it wrong and you end up breaking something. This is what my manual said to do.
DIY SIDE MARKER BULBS FOR E55 W211.
THIS IS THE PART TO BE THE MOST CAREFUL ON. Can easily scratch her. I inserted thin screwdriver into this part. Try to get it right around where I have it. That's right where the clip is that holds it.
With screwdriver pushed in a few mm's. AGAIN, suuuuuper gently, pry that end out until the clip pops out. Will make a snapping noise and it kinda paniced me that I broke it. I did it a few times and it worked fine each time. Just can't say enough this is not the part to be putting a-ss on with the screwdriver (cranking on the screwdriver to get it pop out)
Read end of lens comes out first. Then front should slide right out. Not much wire lead with the bulb so you should only have bout enough to get it out before wire pulls tight.
To reinstall, just reverse and place front snug in, then slide rear in and push in place until you hear it click in place.
As you can see (couple of pics above this one) the clip can be pushed in from the inside to remove the lens, but like I said it's a little bit of a pain.
Manual literally tells you to slide it forward to pop it out but that didn't work for me. Needed a little help from the screwdriver.
There ya go
Manual page 338 or something.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
On an obsidian black car -
what would look better?
Clear lights or smoked? If I wanted clear, wouldn't new ones need to be purchased? Yet if I wanted smoked I could have body shop spray lens cover?
Thanks!
