Accuracy of Kleeman power claims?

Just curious to know how realistic the hp/tq gains are with Kleeman tuning products? Are they typically optimistic with their numbers? Conservative...right on? They have a tuning program for the C63 now including headers and ecu bumping power to 543hp and 495tq according to the dyno graph, and wanted to know if there would be any reason to be skeptical?

For my E55 wagon, their claims were right on. I got the K2.

many people criticize kleemann for quoting/measuring crank hp gains but when that's the only critique people can come up with, that says something! don't hesitate doing business with them, especially when it comes to ecu tuning.

I have a Kleemann S/C & ECU which make about 450 bhp (381whp) they advertis on there website the stage 2 make about 510 bhp. They short me about 60hp

also, they have to retune my ECU twice to get that number, 1st time it only make about 50whp and my transmission cut out once it hit redline.

btw, the 381whp is with the resonator removed and X-pipe installed. Baseline was 302hp everything is stock. So you ask if the number is what Kleemann claim..what do you think?

I have yet to see a tuners claims be fulfilled in real life. Having said that, Cory at Kleemann is very honest and will tell you what numbers to expect. I'm happy with my Kleemann stuff and will buy from them again in the future. They will also be doing a custom ECU tune for me once I'm done with my mods

My car only makes 405whp on a dynojet  But have beat numerous cars that make more power and weigh less :nix:

Is that with all your mod, cam, exhaust...?

Everything but the intake... my car is slow :(

How many psi is your S/C making? my Eaton root stlye make 6.2psi with a 2.8" pulley and with the custom 2.6" pulley it make about another 2psi which is very noticeable power. :naughty:

I have a 70mm pulley so I guess ~8.5PSI

You must have the twin scews type S/C than..they make more boost than the Eaton. :y

bb you should talk to matt ... he has a SLK55 K7 that has 80-90 rwhp than you do on the same kit.

There are plenty of people that make more power on a dyno than I do but I have yet to see them get better times at the track. SLK55 has 11.0:1 c/r and CLK55 is 10.5:1 so it will make a little less power. I'm not worried about what the dyno says as long as the 1/4 times are there. Matter of fact, I just raced a claimed 450whp Evo (much lighter than my car) over the weekend and had him scratching his head wondering wtf happened. Alot of people will be shocked to see what this 405whp car will run in Nov/Dec. My car is not the typical Kleemann S7, it has a few more things done to it :naughty: What is Matts screen name?

Yea I have the twinscrew sc.

and I don't believe he is using a different pulley for more psi. I think that negates the compression difference.

I don't think ahmad needs to talk with anyone when it comes to "real" performance. dynoqueens can keep their cute little graphs and printouts. :p:

SLK55R 08-06-2008 08:35 PM

why not?

I would send a pm and ask what his car has that potentially is different that could unlock even more HP. Since they use the same supercharger and also very similar engines they could probably help each other. Perhaps ahmad could give Matt some tips ... shrug who knows?

To be honest I don't understand your post at all. Does anyone think I'm looking down at Ahmad's car or something?

jangy 08-06-2008 11:08 PM

dynos and 1/4 mile NUMBERS are both relative. I accept the drag race comment, ONLY if the cars ran side by side. I do not believe in adding in one's best run ever or whatever just because the variables out-weight the mods.

no offense intended and i didn't mean to imply you were. even though bb's car puts down 80 less hp than matt's, in the real world, i'd bet bb's car is a much better performer. my point is that imho, dyno's are a relatively useless comparison tool. it's almost as useless as all the harley guys that quote 1/4mile times from those trailer drag simulators they strap their bikes to. unfortunately until more people get down the 1/4mile, the dyno will continue to be used for these purposes.
