Problematic on 04 E55's early models?
 

I'm looking to move into another car since i sold my M3, Been looking at low mileage 04 E55's running about low 30's. Could probably get them cheaper since i have a friend thats into auctioning cars. My question is that, are their recalls or major problems with early model 02-04 E55's? I truely love the new style E63 but the price is steep atm BUT i love the torquey s/c V8 in the E55.

Should i be worried about anything major? Get CPO'd E55's instead? Thanks for the help guys! :)

tires I'm not worried about, went through a few sets on the m with 20k miles. Mostly take a closer look at the intercooler pump? That it?

Hey good to see you over here. I dont think theres any problems with 04's. I have a 03 with no warrenty and havent had any issues yet besides bad IC pump which is cheap to replace.

I can tell you that the airmatic suspension does seem to be a problem for these cars. You'll notice if you do a search several members have had issues even with low miles. I just picked mine up from the dealer this afternoon after the front airmatic strut went out on the left front. I have an '03 and just went over 36K miles. My SA got the work done in a day largely because he said they stock the parts because it isn't uncommon to see this issue. I can't stress enough an aftermarket warranty. I have Easy Care and it has worked out nicely.
