To clear a few things up

As it sits right now the car has VRP ECU tune, prototype upgraded intercooler kit, CM90 pump and 4 gallon tank in the spare tire compartment. I also have test pipes featuring an "X" design which eliminate the catalytic converters. I have reached the same trap speeds with stock cooling circuit, stock catalytic converters, and CM30. Unfortunately, in back to back pass situations, the IAT's would creep into the mid 150's and possibly higher in warmer weather. The extra capacity and CM90 help keep the IAT's below 130 on back to back passes. The gains from the intercoolers were realized from the efficiency of the cores in allowing more CFM from the turbos to enter the engine. We picked up a pound of boost from them. I don't have a screen in the tank so when we tried to use ice, we ended up getting the pump stuck with little pieces of ice. This pass was made with warm water(regular driving) in the system. Without Ice in the system at a good track I know the car has a 10.7X in it at very close to 130 if not a bit over. With 35 degree water in the tank(filled with ice), I think it can get down to a 10.5X. And Victor, I'm way ahead of you on the nitrous system.

Wow an extra lb of boost from IC....Can you also clear up the curb weight on your particular CL65 (since options vary widely) & you're an obvious track hound you've must've weighed her sometime? congratz

Believe it or not, as curious as I am about it to this day, I have not gone over the scales. After seeing how it responded to these mods, I will guess that my race weight is about 4750 lbs. This is very unscientific, just an educated guess. I will scale it next time. The only option it doesn't have is Distronic.

No needs, just wants.... I'm not putting it on this year though. I'm looking at a direct port system with computer controller, wide band with all the safety features.

So I take it the CL65 hasn't/didn't run 10.80 A almost 128mph

Since you previously posted last week "he ran 11.0's @ 127.6mph"

Well....

The car was at the track last week (10/10/08) at Great Lakes Dragway when Marko was doing the shakedown runs.

You see.... well... what happened was.... awww heck.. here is a copy of the slip from that night..

Marko was on the left... Notice anything??

Yeah.. You read it correctly... the slip says 10.138 @ 127.11mph!!!!!

But, Marko being the proper racer he is said it wasn't a clean pass. He thought that the smoke from his burnout may have interfered with the lights at the starting line.. Over the phone, he said that 10.13 was probably a 10.80... I was so excited about the news that I made the post.

We both wanted to see a clean pass and the 10.97 was the best one so far at US41.

I discounted the "10.80 pass" because officially on the ticket it said 10.13.

Unfortunately on the 10.97 pass from this weekend his car cut power quite a bit on 2nd gear so it wasnt a full out run.. Thats why we easily think this is a 10.70 car if he can put the power down and get a full throttle run through the 1/4.

Sorry for the confusion.. I should have left out the information from last week's pass but I was too excited to hold it back.

I saw a couple CL65's on digital scales, they are about 4450 without a driver....

I would guess 640HP at the wheels right now.....

great runs, congrats.....

My '03 CL55 was 4,650 with 1/8 tank and me in it.

I would guess you'll be closer to 4,900.

It was a horse and full carriage...lol. I have a set of 18" 2009 CL/E 63 Replica wheels in the back. Definitely no spray this year. Maybe not even next year if the mod Jason and I have been discussing ends up working out like it should.

I got (2) sources
Cars direct....
CL65 Curb Weight 4,890 lbs.
4,890 lbs.

Carshowroom.com/autotrader
Dimensions:

Weights: gross vehicle weight rating (kg): 2,635, gross vehicle weight rating (lbs): 5,809, curb weight (kg): 2,240 and curb weight (lbs): 4,938 damn those are fat-bastad's

2008 Mercedes-Benz SL SL65 Exterior Features and Specifications
GeneralBase SL65 Curb Weight (lbs) 4555

If you had these mods above on lighter SL65 she'll deff be a 10.5x @ 130+mph!!

Ricker:

I think you may have pulled the curb weight for a 2008 CL65. I believe the published curb weight for a 2005-2006 is 4,654lbs.

We also hit boost cut on that pass at around the 1000' mark, that's why MPH is only 127. The car completely took out throttle as we maxed the MAP sensor at over 22.5 psi. The eighth mile MPH is higher on the "10.13" pass (102.44) than on the 10.97(102.04). I also left much harder on the "10.13" as there was no wheel spin. If you add back .700 to the slip (which equals roughly a 1.600 short time), figure in a few hundredths for the boost cut it comes out to at least a 10.83. In my opinion it is a very likely outcome. You should have seen the reaction from the crowd when that time lit up.

Are you coming out to MIR? I want to see what your car does on a good wheel/tire setup in negative DA. What was your 60'? I am willing to let you run on my 16" CCW's with MT ET Streets for a pass or 2 to see what you can run

I probably know what mod you are doing.

Yes I am coming to MIR. Thanks for the offer on the wheels!! Do you think 16" wheels will fit over my rear brakes? They look pretty big and it seems these 18's are cutting it close. I guess we'll try!! The 60' on the 10.97 pass was 1.698. It spun after I left and bogged down pretty bad in second gear. I'm very surprised it ran a 10.97 like that.

You better keep mine and Jason's secret or I'll have my good friend find you and make you "humble" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K-wEUCCvE0

I think Lou had to settle for custom ccw 17's Marko, the 16's will not clear the 65 brakes.

How much bigger are your brakes than a E55? They are made to clear the E55 rears. We can always try. And if that doesnt work I have a set of light (lighter than the CCWs believe it or not) 18" wheels but the tires are only 245 BFG d/r's

If the CCWs fit you should cut 1.5x 60's so I see you 10.7x quite easily

No but seriously, I dont know. I dont want to speculate and fall short of what I predict. It depends on alot of things... will stuff hold together down the track (especially with the hard launches I'm planning), can I get the 2-3 shift issue resolved in time, am I gonna spray the car? If the car hooks and doesnt break and shifts properly I think the car will be able to keep up with a few of the tuned V12TT's in the 1/4. But if I was to make a prediction I would go with a conservative 11.5 @ 118
