Supply and demand...there are a ton for sale and this is a bad time of year in a bad economy. That aside, AMG cars always depreciate like lead balloons (at least every one that I have owned).
As far as the CLS goes, I don't think the AMG depreciation curve plays any favorites as they are tanking across the board. Even on the roadsters which traditionally hold up better.

New $30,000 off
The San Francisco Chronicle had an ad in it this morning - I think from Fletcher Jones in Fremont advertising $30,000 off a new CLS63 or E63.
That brings the purchase price down into the low 60's and that is going to put a lot of price pressure on anyone looking to sell a used model.
Good if you're looking for a new one, but disheartening if you are trying to unload one.....

Wow! I didn't realize our cars are depreciating this quickly. The wife and I were in the market for a new car, preferably a AMG (if I had my choice) but decided to wait until the begining of the year. It's a good thing we did.

I would like to see that ad, but is it really that far fetched? Considering the suppy and demand, overload of cars in the new and used market?
Something has to give, and it is not the buyers. For the most part who needs an AMG let alone a Benz? Just a thought...

Wow! I wonder how long these deals are going to last. It is just too tempting.
Or maybe waiting until the middle of next year one would get an even better deal?

that is absolutely crazy! i bought my 05 E55, CPOd with all options and 20K on the clock for $58K a year and a half ago. If i had waited until now, I could get a 2007 E63 for 2-3K less! wow.
On a side note, love every inch of the car. And I plan on keeping it for some time.
But also to those who are saying selling sucks at this time - not really. I say this beacause ALL car values are plumeting. So whatever you are looking to get next, is likely MUCH cheaper as well. So you lose on the sale but win on the buy part. It all turns out about equal.

Just called them. Yes, it is true. The deal is until 12/15. Still have two E63s black/black. Not sure why the huge discount (30% off)? But good deal. Too bad. I am looking for a wagon :-(. Let me know if you see a good discounted E63 wagon.

2008 Ad
Sorry guys, no scanner, but the ad is legit - SF chronicle today. Looks like eee63W called them.
There is a wagon at Walnut Creek - maybe they will match the deal?
If a new 2008 E63 is $63,000, what does that do to a used '08 E63? Does it make it $10k less? This market is wacked.

The last 06 Wagon that I know of sold at $49K (way over priced IMHO), but that is what the Salesperson said at Smyth European (San Jose). I would offer $38K - 41K. Full service dealerships have greater mark up. There is also an 05 wagon at Eaton, Orange County. They are more realistic about price at $41K - though no CPO and 36K miles. Both wagons are silver
Here is the car details for the wagon in Pleasanton:
I don't see Distronic, or power lift gate but my search via Russian website doesn't always show the full option list.

This will be the norm for most car mfg's for the next 12-18 months. It's called a buyers market

Confirmed. I just jumped in my ninth Benz (First AMG though). It's a new '08 E63. The sticker was $98K. I got $18K knocked off plus 4.9% financing for 66 months. It's white on black.
