Here's an odd problem ...
I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Dynamic seat failure and radio/audio degraded. A few weeks ago I was driving along and I feel the seat deflate. I try to make an adjustment and it's not responding. I look to see that the passenger seat is also not responsive. At the same time I notice the stereo, which has never sounded very good to begin with, sound horribly wrong. Almost like the speakers are playing under water. I go into a store, come back to start the car and everything is working fine again. Since then , the radio/audio has similarly degraded 3x. The seats failed 2x not at the same time. As luck would have it ... the seats failed again while driving to the dealer for some warranty service, so when I pulled in, I left the car running and brought the SA over to see it was not working. Can anyone help me with what might be causing this??? I have an idea or two but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. I'm worried they're not going to be able to reproduce the problems and just tell me all is fine. I'm wondering if this isn't related to low battery/bad alternator power output and things being shut down. I know radios will typically sound bad with low power supply, but the seat issue??? Could the computer be shutting down the dynamic seats too? I'm just guessing here ... Any ideas or similar experiences? |
No ideas ???

Dealer visit time---- never heard of the stereo issues. The seat thing could be a motor issue.

If I had to guess I would say it's electrical. I would start looking at the area where these systems interface. There must be some wiring harness or control module that these systems share. As I recall there is a separate body contol module and engine control module.

She's at the dealer ... but I fear they're just going to tell me they don't find anything wrong ... that's the problem with intermittent problems. Even though I showed the SA it right when I drove in, it was just "luck" that it happened then and I doubt the service tech will be able to duplicate it.
