COLOR CHANGE l YOUR THOUGHTS

SO I SAW THIS PIC AND IT GOT ME THINKING...

I Love my 55 but in bored. I have been looking @ M5's and the thought is not lost and i think ill pic one up eventually but...

What do you guys think? I am in the industry so i can do this well and to factory spec!

I think the red is "FIRE OPAL RED" but im not sure

Thoughts on value? Thoughts on the look seing as i cant seem to find many pics of clean modified E55's...

Of course i would be adding carbon bits to match the gunmetal look from the wheels and some much needed tuning...this would be a whole new project.

AND THIS IS WHY I AM INSPIRED...MY WHEELS, LOWERED LIKE MINE ETC

MY CAR IN ITS CURRENT STATE

THE PHOTO THAT GOT ME THINKING

I normally despise red cars besides the obvious curvy F-car, but must admit this color RED looks tuff as hell in this pic! I remember a modded CLK63 BS in this color seriously works w/gun metal 65 whls & supporting CF bits another must is windshield tint...A light tint on Headlights/fogs may be perfect touch, I say do it

As far as resale, our MB's are already in the tank just mod it & enjoy it...

Exactly. And this would be a factory spec paint job. No BS.

Black Grill. Carbon front lip. Carbon rear spoiler etc

2005 BLK/BLK E-Double Nickel.
You are the second person here who wants to paint your car that same exact color(because of that pic).... Hey if money is not an issue go for it..... I would personally prefer to spend that kind of money on performance mods... Don't get me wrong that color is HOT as HELL, but the one and only right way to do this is going to cost alot.....

Good luck

I have to say that car in red is sex on wheels. That being said, changing the color is a huge undertaking if you want to do it right, and with that car you have to do it right.
Not only in the engine compartment , but also in the interior. There is a tremendous amount of disassembly to consider. The engine, wiring harness, and everything attached to the fire wall, aprons and radiator support has to be removed. Everything from the rocker panels out has to be removed and the doors have to be completely torn down. After that, every part attached to the body has to be removed. Basically, anywhere you can remove something and still see silver has to come off.
Done right you won't hurt the value too much. Done wrong, you'll have a tough time getting book value when you want to sell it. Either way, you'll never see any kind of return on a very large investment.
Not to discourage you from what you want, but there are quite a few drawbacks.

Your worst nightmare...
I'd say do it!!. Who cares about re sale value. LOL, If I get an E I am doing this color as well . Black wheels, CF all over the place. It will be hot as hell.

The only bad thing is you will stand out in case of any runs in mexico, if popo is looking for you, that's just me, but I am sure we could deal with that.

i think with the carbon bits it's going to look amazing. i love red & CF together. plus red is the fastest color and is the best to take night photos.

That is NOT the red i want

As far as cost i work so closely with my body shop that the cost will not be an issue. This would be a promo car for them etc. We actually met about the idea last night and its looking good!!!

I might be

I think it looks pretty hot.
Since resale value on our cars can't really get much worse, I say do it.

NMT, you're going to have to beat me to this. I already have a few E's I'm looking at and a quote from Fletcher Jones (where I plan to do the color change), plus a ton of other mods lined up. I say paint it blue and leave the red one to me!

Edit: If you do it, though, you've GOT to tint your windshield like that too. Its sooo badass

You'll be playing Tag w/Po-Po for fix-it Tickets, but "Oh so worth it!" I'd love to see a Red Light Camera ticket picture, w/heavy tinted windshield/Temp tags (phukurs zoom in on both your plates & driver in pix)

If you do it, be sure to make pics of the make over process esp before and after, etc.. and post them.
