AUX Port in E55
I have a 2003 E55 (w/o navigation), and I do have the AUX port in the glove box.
How do I activate it? I have tried many combinations but nothing worked. Do I have to get reprogrammed at the dealer? Thanks in advance. |
What do you mean by activate? It is just an anlogue port. You can access it through your audio selection screen on yiour radio...
|
In the Audio menu, I just have access to CD, Tape, FM, AM, WB. There is no AUX there.

Hit the radio button once and it takes you to the radio selection screen with the frequency's. Hit it again and the screen changes to allow you more selections. You have the aux button available to select in the top right corner.
|
If you have the navigation, do automatically have the aux. port? I looked and did not see it in my glove.

Top center I think, the roof of the glove box.

I ahve an 04 which does have the port. Hit the radio button until you see AUX in the top right corner and the port becomes operable.
Go to your local Best Buy and buy an AUX jack, plug it into your I-Pod or I-Phone and you have music via the radio. |
Correct me if I am wrong, But I was under the impression that the Audio 50 unit that came in the 2003 e55 do not even have the connector for the cable that goes to the aux jack, or at least mine did not when I switched it to the euro navi (which does have the input).
|
from what i have read, all comand headunits have the aux jack behind the headunit, but late 04/05ish they were extended to the glove box @ the factory... you can buy the little entender jack from MB and extend it yourselves...
|
I'd love to get my aux port back and lose the factory ipod connection.. Anyone know how to do that?
*and sorry for the threadjack :)* |
is the plug still there in your glove box? if so, all you would have to do it take out the headunit, unplug the ipod integration wire and re-plug the aux extender cable (which is most likely still dangling back there somewhere...

1 Attachment(s)
here you go...
Attachment 408094 thats the aux input behind your headunit, you will just have to swap the ipod wire for the aux input wire... Credit for picture goes to yacht master you can view the full thread here https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...d-install.html |
Thank You!

I have the Audio 50 in my car. I do have the Auxiliary jack in the glove box, but I don't see it as an option in my Audio screen.
Do you think I need to pull the Audio 50 out and maybe connect a wire or something? Thanks.

ok this is probably fairly random - there are three wires in mine - i was gonna relocate it - a normal stereo cable has 2 - a red and a white (and a metal shield) does anyone know what that third cable is for?
|
ok nevermind - i got great sound once i hooked a black to black red to yellow and the shield to brown - which allowed me to take a common stereo jack.. splice into the mp3 wire and relocate the aux port into my center console :)
|
I have the aux port in my glove box as well. Odd spot for it. Still debating on wiring in a charging cable and just use a remote for my Ipod or just go the full factory route for $700 or so to have info through the factory screen
