Crazy Idea! CLS Rear wheels on a E55?
My brother is into this VIP, Hella Flush, air runner, etc... scene. Bags installed in his 08 Acura Type S. I admit, I looks sick! He just finished his body work last week. He pulled out the front and rear wheel wells to fit 20" wheels, 10" wide in the front and 11" wide in the rear. Wheels are so fat.
Then it got me thinking. Put some CLS wheels on the rear of the E55, and pull the fenders over it. 1st thought... a wider more aggressive stance would make it look deadly. Next thought, Bigger wheels will weigh the car down. Last thoughts, more rubber on the surface = less wheel spin? Maybe?
Whats your thoughts? I'm tempted to do it. I think more for the look than the anything. Am I committing a sin for even thinking about it? Love to here your thoughts.

I one thing that I don't understand, is that the Acura's are front wheel drive, and he put these big wheels on it. The rears are wider then the front, but it's front wheel drive. I just can't understand the purpose. I know that it probably looks sick. For you to do the same thing on a E55, might require some sheet metal work in the rear. I have 19x9.5 in the rear on my E63, they measure the inside of the rim, outside bead to bead. But if you were to measure the rim lip to lip it's 10 inches. So in esssence I have 10 inch wide wheels out back, so it' not inconcieveable for 11 inch wide wheels to be shoe horned in there. Provided that you had a proper offet, it should work.

I am using CLS55 wheels as winter wheels on my E55, I hate them. Frankly, I think they're boring.
Example
My new wheels:
So what do YOU think looks better?
Also, the hellaflush scene is retarded. These cars are performance cars; if you try pulling stupid **** like those retards (fender rolling, tire stretching) you are going to have a car that both looks AND rides like crap. The "VIP" treatment usually involves the same thing: putting too-huge wheels on that result in a car that rides like absolute ****. We own Mercedes E-class AMGs, not Chrysler 300s.

Those 5 spokers are deffinetly not CLS wheels. They are knock offs. The CLS wheels that look like that came on the CLS55 and they are 19s. Those are not CLS55 wheels. Those look like 12s!
Here are true CLS55 19s on an E55, I am not sure what you are running! The real ones look badass!

What is the fascination with VIP cars and rolling fenders? I never liked the look, but is VIP styling even safe?

Pardon my ignorance; what is VIP cars. My understanding of the acronym is very important person. Obviously this new style of modification means something else because if I ever hit it big, I don't want to be seen rolling in one of those.

I'm using them as winter wheels, currently. Once the season is over and if the price is right (and perhaps if you want Blizzaks with them), perhaps!
Those are CLS63 wheels, not CLS55. Although, I'm not sure if there's much/any difference.
If the ones I have aren't CLS55 wheels, I'm not sure what they are. They're genuine Mercedes-Benz OEM wheels, from SOMETHING. The PO worked with Mercedes-Benz directly doing photoshoots for them, and he mentioned he had swapped wheels with a new CLS. The wheels have the AMG logo stamped in them, but I suppose they could be from a CLS w/ the AMG sport package...
What's the difference between those and the ones in this picture? Mine are 18x9.5 rear 18x8.5 front.
edit: CLS55 AMG wheels are the same width but 19" diameter... making these CLS500 wheels?
It'd sure fool me...
