New to E55

I have been on this forum for awhile with my C-230. I recently bought an E55 and wanted to say hello to all of you guys and I hope to learn some things about my new car. I absolutely love it and am happy to be able to find other people with the same interest as me. Although I am a little late in the game.

Here are a few pictures of my car.

Congratulations. You will love the car. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would ever sell one.

I believe they have been powdercoated. They look like they have had tires mounted since they were this color because the weights are not colored over and there are no scratches or chips. Professional looking anyway.

Thank you. Its not shabby.

Thanks! Has enough power for me right now but after I do some cosmetics and get used to its power, I'm sure I will want to do some performance mods.

Very true. I usually don't take my good cars there but I couldn't help driving the E since I just got it. I parked away from the crowd.

That was my car. I loved it, and would have owned it for a long time if not for a sportscar itch that I needed to scratch. I got a great offer on a trade for a low miles Cayman S with CPO warranty:

snail45, I hope you really enjoy owning the E55. I'd like to see the car again if you ever make it to one of the Denver meets.

Snail congrats!! I'm a newbie 2 E55 as well and loving it.

Point2Point that's huge down grade in power but still love your choice. I have a soft spot for PORSCHE as well. Now call TPC for some power. Congrats as well.

On the test drive, I redlined the Porsche through second and third gears. The salesman asked me what I thought of the acceleration. I was honest and told him that when you've been driving a car with 911 Turbo accleration, Cayman S acceleration is going to feel a bit weak. After being out of the E55 for a few weeks now, the Porsche is starting to feel quicker to me.

The main factors that sold me on the test drive were the response and feel of the steering, the sound of the mid-mounted engine and the slickness of the gear change (OEM short shift kit). Sorry to use a cliche, but the Porsche really feels like a precision instrument as you guide it down any winding road.

True that. I love that engine and exhaust note in the upper revs. I did enjoy the PDK much better than the 6 spd manual. PDK is great IMHO. I wish my E55 has PDK...

Holy crap!! Thats nuts! I had been searching for E55's for a long time. Thanks for trading it in. You wouldn't happen to have the owners manual and spare key would you?

Anyway, They gave me a great trade on my other Merc that I couldn't turn down. I am waiting to see it on the forums sometime too since the dealer didn't take off the forum stickers that I had on it.

I do plan on coming to some meets in Denver this summer. That would be cool to see your new car. Looks very nice.

Yes, I do have the owners manual and other books (including the carrying case for the books) and the spare key.

nice looking car and the matching paint scheme does go well with that color. I too just pick a nice used E55 , and will be hopefully learning alot on the Forum . you will need 3 days to read thru the owners manual and figure out the cluster menu and command buttons. finally fixed the time on my dash clock. enjoy.

Haha. I was pretty confused when I saw no spare tire but no manual to tell me why. Judging by the tire sealant and air compressor, I kind of figured out that there wasn't suppose to be one though.
