2004 E55 AMG
Airmatic problems
I'm the new ower of 2004 E55 AMG, I have drive over a year and come to one day, the front of the car slam onto the gorund and message say " CAR IS TOO LOW". I have reads many threads of the issue. So, this weekend i'm going to inspect the air leak and perrform other thing that might cuase this issue. My question is:
1. What point of inspection should i start ?.
2. What could be the possible causes ?.
3. Can the strut be repaired ?.
4. Where can i find DIY for repair the airmatic strut?
5. Where can i find a use strute.
Please, share your experices. I really appreciated.

This should help you out, but I would start your air leak at the callapse strut, then check each air line for scaffing, then the distribution bloack, and finally the air compressor. Do you have a warranty, if so, let Mercedes deal with the problem?
If you do not have a warranty this can become very expensive. use the link that I provided, and give these guys a call, they can tell you more then I can. Good Luck

My wifes E500 did that a while back and I got a replacement from Arnott Induties and did it myself. It's fairly easy to do on your own with basic metric wrenches and sockets.

There is a DIY threar out there, with instructions on how to change out a airmatic strut. I looked at it a few weeks ago, but can't seem to locate it now. If it's not the strut, then this can be a headache to locate what the fault is, air compressor, distribution block, air lines, air tank. You might need to take it in to a professional to diagnose the problem.

Thanks ALL for your feedback.
This will help me understand the fucntion of the airmatic.
I will keep you posted after i do the inspection. For i got to get the car back home, it sis about 120 miles tow. with the tow it already drain my wallet. That's why i have to do my self.
PLease dont be a strangers, post any that can help me.

just replace the one. but be aware YOU WILL need to replace the other one

Updates,
Today i did performance the air leak and cofirmed that the air is comming out of the strut it self. My next step is to replace the strut using instruction written by Yatch Master. I hope is not too hard to put the strut back in.
I will keep you all posted, Please fill free gave me an advise.
