HRE's get a facelift and a few new mods.

Have a few quick pictures that I took after getting my HRE's re powder coated, matte black faces with gloss black lips and barrels. Accompanied by some new Nitto rubber in the rear; NTO5's 275/30/19. After getting them back they were assembled incorrectly so it took me about 7.5 hours to pop the faces off and switch them. I was lucky not to break the seal. I love the way the wheels turned out, any picture that gets taken of them doesn't do them justice. Just hard to photograph I suppose. Had her dropped with SDS about 1.25". Along with Euroteck's front lip and Diffuser. New badges (just different). New DCT motorsports steering wheel with 63 paddles installed and a Stereo Update :y

I love the car too much not to share. Enjoy :D

nice wheels and sick looking setup

andy_meng1024 Apr 16, 2010 03:14 PM

Nicely done. Would you mind PM me where and how much it cost to powdercoat them? I'm thinking about doing the same thing with polished lip but my local shops won't even touch any 3 piece wheel. :X

AMG_RL Apr 16, 2010 03:23 PM

I don't mind at all. Sent you a PM. It was a real big PITA, being that I really didn't want to spend a grip to ship them anywhere even though I got some really good quotes from HMS in Cali to redo them. The first place I took them too took them apart, power coated them and then called me back to tell me they couldn't put them back together... I won't PM you them because quite honestly they are a joke of a business. I then took it to my buddy who does all my stereo work and he had a guy pick them up and put them together incorrectly (front faces on the back wheels and visa versa...) All in all it ran me around $700 + the 7.5 man hours of my own to reverse his mess up. However he was incredibly apologetic and I understand that he took over someone else's mistake. He assures me that this was the only time it happened and he believes it's because I brought him a bunch of wheel pieces that could easily have gotten mixed up in labeling them F & R by the other company. He is a stand up guy and can PC, Polish, Paint, balance and mount. I wish I would have just used him from the start. So a lot of that was my fault and I probably deserved the 7.5 hour dent in my friday evening lol.

HAHA very busy trying to keep up with you! :y That steering wheel is the best!!! MUCH MUCH better than the disappointment that Mercedes first used. It even convinced Sandoval to do paddles in a matter of days after he saw it lol.

What times were you pulling down btw??

930chas Apr 16, 2010 04:06 PM

Thanks man! I love your Monolites!!!

The paddles were a great do it myself mod! I had a blast cutting up a brand new steering wheel! I just needed a little help from my stereo guy to put the steering wheel on.

Here you go! It's temporary for now until we figure out something a little showier and still fit my clubs in the trunk :y

I actually don't know why the newer carpet looks so contrasting with the older in that pic... In person you can barely tell a difference... :nix:

snail45 Apr 16, 2010 06:50 PM

Holy crap! That looks amazing!! You've got a LOT of things done to your car. Looks very very clean.

Would you happen to have any pics of your Head Unit? Been thinking of getting an Alpine w900 but wasn't sure how the adapter kit would look with it. :nix:

Your rims look a lot bigger now due to the lips being black.

mikey33 Apr 16, 2010 08:08 PM

Everything looks great! Love those wheels, I wish I had that kind of money to get those, lol.

RonnieRenaldi Apr 16, 2010 09:12 PM
