Looking at 07 E63, what to expect?

I am thinking of getting an certified 2007 E63. What should I expect/look for?

1. 2007 is the first year, should I avoid it?
2. Certified warranty adds one year on top of original 4yr/50k miles?
3. Any major issue?
4. What is a good price range for 30k-40k miles?
5. Keyless go reliable?

This one OK? http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Thanks.

You just posted the most common question on the forum. Always go for an extended warranty. Get a good PPI done and pull the trigger. Pay whatever you feel comfortable with.

I'm new to the E63. I can share market data but not the owners inside info. I paid 52k for a CPO from MB stealership. MB offers 1.9 finance, which was huge since I wasn't paying with cash.

CPO from MB means the worn parts have just been replaced.

MB pushes for a tight band 49-59k regardless of the miles. Mine has 17k and is fully loaded.

In the end I was looking at CPO'd one year ago transfer from second owner, 40k miles and 8% APR at 40k vs. Dealer CPO, 17k and 1.9 APR (ask price 57k).

If I had cash it may have been different, but low miles can be huge if you want to swap out in two years like me. I can't stay in one car longer than 30 months.

Good luck! We all have different bits to consider.

In my experience, the 63's are very solid vehicles. We have an E63 and also a CLS63. If you do get one with higher mileage, definitely consider getting an extended warranty if you want additional peace of mind. Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the reply.

Porsche's certified warranty is additional 2 years and MB is one?

Some mentioned additional warranty. Do you mean more on top of certified warranty? Or get a warranty if I were to buy from private party or non MB dealer.

uttexs55,

From 57k to 52k, that sounds like a good deal.

What options do you have? What are the available options?

Thanks.

E63
Keyless
Parktronic
Pano Roof
Comfort2 - all creature comforts
Rear side shades
ipod

missing options:
distronic - adaptive cruise ~3K
P03 - performance package (mainly locking diff) ~9K
Designo Edition for custom paint and interior ~5K

Most dealers told me they purchased the cars 40-44K, added dollars to get it ready for CPO and added min of 2500 markup. Plus most are adding 2500 - 3500 on top for obo/trade-in room.

E55 is faster and easy to mod. I would have gone for the E55 if I was going for a cash purchase, didn't care about CPO coverage, and had another daily driver.

I did find several fantastic E55s...hopefully I'll be in a position to get one of the new TTs in a couple years.

Still I like the sound of the E63 over the E55, when they are both stock.

I understand E55 is faster. E63 is fast enough for me. Unless you track, how fast can you drive without getting a ticket...one day.

I want a car with newer interior, warranty etc all within my budget.

The E63 is a well-rounded car. It is very fast, very comfortable, and very reliable. There hasn't been any major problems reported yet, but there has been a few minor annoyances that you can address. If the car is still under warranty, then the dealer will take care of them for you: Cam position sensor (covered under a TSB), Squeaky brakes, Faulty oil stick, ECU flash, etc... - all are very minor.

Isn't he talking about getting an '07, not a '10...the '07 interiors are nicer and more "updated" than the E55's in general, and tough to argue than a '07 interior will be NEWER than an '06 or earlier model year car...

Re: 07 E63

I've had my 07 E63 for a year, most reliable Benz I have owned. It is not at all slow either.

Find one with options/color you want, warranty, and do a MB dealer PPI. Prices from dealers on the east coast are about the same as last year, low to mid 50's for CPO with low mileage, a few thousand less from non MB dealers or private sellers.

As far as the "truth hurting" then yeah, an E55 is (marginally) faster stock. But especially if you want to mod cheap and get power out of the motor so it goes even faster in a straight line, then the E55 FTW.

But if the OP wants a fast car that's more civilized as a daily driver with a more precise steering feel and better handling, plus a 7 speed tranny that works smoother and makes for even better mpg, then the E63 FTW. (Plus you won't have to get a whole new bumper/facelift kit to make it look good, or replace the steering wheel. )

And there are still folks who actually like n/a motors and don't like cars that sound like a vacuum cleaner going down the road.

It's all what one is wanting for their own needs.

fwiw, if you can swing a used 2009, the new COMAND system and Nav with VC is 1000x better than the old DVD based system on the '08s and earlier.

Get the W211 for your comfort daily and then a weekend car for real driving. Even CPO'd 997s are pretty cheap these days. You can now almost get two CPO'd cars for what the new price of just one was several years ago.
