Partially completed rear-end facelift of my E55

Started to do some exterior refresh / updates on my E55 and got the following done:

1. E63-style trunk spoiler from JBSpeed
2. ECE-spec face-lifted trunk panel

Next week, I'll complete the rear-end facelift with the new LED tail-lights.

I don't understand the description of the trunk panel??? Is it OEM? That's the last piece I need for my rear-end update, please LMK where you got it and, if you don't mind, $?

its the European one with the wider license plate area to accommodate the euro plates.

Can the same be done using the U.S. part? Why did you go with the Euro peice instead?

Cost?
Is it a DIY?

The long chrome strip attached definitely gives a better look.

It's OEM and it's European spec that allows you to install a Euro-plate mount on it. There's an optional part from Classic MB catalog that would allow you to convert the Euro mount to a US mount. I'm getting that next week.

The trunk panel is about 200 from parts.com. However, you still need to get it painted since it comes primered only. Or you can try MBenzNL and he can probably get a pre-painted one from factory for you.

Yes, it can be done with the US part. I picked the Euro part because it would allow me to use a Euro plate mount / Euro plate for car shows.

See above for cost.

It's possible to DIY yourself to save some labor. Look up LED license plate light install for instruction on how to remove and install the trunk panel.

Where did you get ECE-spec face-lifted trunk panel on parts.com? I must be blind, but I can't find it, can you post a direct link to that part?

Thanks~ The lights are on their way to Seattle from Jersey. I should be installing them next Friday on my day off. I'll be installing the Euroteck matte black CF diffuser as well.

Part number is A 211 8100173. Type in the numbers without the A into the Parts.com search box and that should come up.

Do you have the part number or name of the optional part from Classic MB catalog that allows you to convert the Euro mount to the US mount? Or possibly where I can purchase such a part? Thanks

Do you know where I can order the plate adapter you have listed above?

Parts.com tells me that it's replaced by a different part, but I'm not sure I want the replaced part.

Has anyone else done this with the euro part and adapter?? I PM'd Kev but didn't get an answer and my car's at the body shop now. I'm trying to figure out whether I should buy the adapter or whether I should just drill new holes for my US plate...I'm not crazy about how Kev's US plate sits low (and it appears that is with the adapter piece installed) and I need to decide what to do ASAP.

Help?

I did mine the hard way. Going through the dealer asking them to order the trunk panel and all they could tell me was that it wasn't available for my car...

I was able to get one off of a wrecked car, along with the tail lights.

It did have the Euro plate holes so I had to cut and drill a new bracket to mount the US plate.
