Help! should a 21yo buy an '07 e63?

I am unsure of whether i should buy an e63 AMG 2007. I am about to pull the trigger on this one. It has about 40k miles. Some of my friends are saying the cars look is too old for me, however, i feel like this is an amazing car and even if it is a sedan the raw power and feel of it is more than enough to make up for it. If not this car, what car should i be looking at?

@ 21yrs old, you should be looking for a E92 M3 w/ DCT:y

I couldn't really find any m3's in my price range. about $40k. i do agree though. Also i am having a problem locating a good extended warranty company. =(

21 yrs old??

1. Is this your money or your parents? If yours, buy the car- you have done well early on.

2. If its mom and dad's; gave it back to them so they can pay for your schooling and a commuter car to help you get to and from college and work.

3. If its yours but its your mom and dad's company or business, see the second paragraph above. (#2)

I tend to get that a lot, this is my money that i earned from pure hard work. My parents introduced me into the work field when i was young and long story short i learned fast.
Are you saying i should buy this car?

OMG that's the best advice I heard in a long time!

Also i pay for my own tuition, and living costs.

I bought my E55 when I was 22 :D

Go for it...

Curious why you wouldn't be considering the C63. Newer body style and simple ECU flash puts the little thing at well over 500+hp.

Orrrr the ultimate tail magnet SL?

You sure don't see a lot of these posing next to E63's.

Have you priced insurance for it? That could be a show stopper at your age.

What percentage of your net worth are you looking to spend on the car? If you want to be independently wealthy in the future, what percentage of your worth do you think is appropriate to spend on a car?

Your friends may ridicule it, but you will end up driving everywhere because it's actually useful & comfortable to use as transportation.

Jim she looks like the same woman in that pic you posted when you drove that Gallardo for your b-day

If you can afford it and it is your money and you like the car buy it. To hell what your friends think it is not there money to spend. Live your life for you not for your friends and their expectations.

hmm i have priced for insurance and such. Actually when it comes to my income. i barely spending. i am selling my bmw and buying another car. i may myself be dropping 10 to 20. as for the c63 i am looking for a 2007+ model. How much do i see myself spending.
Also, i do already own a c300. i feel like something... different. =)

Who cares what anybody else thinks, it's your life. You'll either be making a mistake or not. But that's part of life, too.

But only buy it if the car suits your needs. Do you need a large, gas guzzling grocery getter? Do you need four doors and a big trunk?

There are lots of other cars with big fat motors out there. And a lot of smaller cars that are quick and with smaller motors. What are you looking for in a car?

Pick the car you honestly want.

cahiil55k 11-03-2010 04:49 PM

If I were 21 again, I would not buy an E class. It does signify some level of maturity in my opinion, and when I was 21 I wanted to be immature.

tgoss 11-03-2010 04:51 PM

At your age I would definitely be looking at an SL55 or a CLS if you need 4 doors.

chawkins2001 11-03-2010 04:55 PM

get the e55 man, it is alot cheaper and you can make it go balls to walls fast.

jbaker1121 11-03-2010 04:56 PM

why not? I turn 20 this month and am getting an e55....

why should age matteR? If you like the car, you like the car.

Hideki24 11-03-2010 04:56 PM

Well i really do like the e-class, plus i am looking for a fairly newer car with a certain budget. The reason i like sedans is because they are more practical for my life. Having more room and trunk space is useful for someone like me who travels quite a lot. ( also job related )

Congrats. I'd pass on the 63, and get a 600 or 55K. The 63 is a hot car, and there are upgrades, but it's not the same without all that low end grunt.

W211 BEAST 11-03-2010 05:11 PM

I'm 22 and I have an E55, and I friggin' love it. But chicks don't, until they get in it. Lol.

If you care about looks get into a Porsche or something, chicks will love it. But I can honestly say that even though I want a Porsche some days, I haven't regretted my choice once. It makes me happy everyday.

Hideki24 11-03-2010 05:22 PM

haha nice! i was considering the e55 but i feel like 2006 might be a bit too old for me. I do like the small interior touches and over all look of the 2007 e63 when compared to the e55. Also, the only other options i have seen so far are: 2006 bmw m5, 2007 cayman, and 2008 335xi. <---... yeah. I don't intend to tune the car too much, but do intend to do a few exterior touch ups :D

Sounds like you're just price shopping and not actually car shopping........

Hideki24 11-03-2010 06:18 PM

not exactly, i meant just happened to see those cars in the same price range.
