Hey guys at the muffler shop taking my secondaries and resonators off my car. They are replacing it with 2.75 piping is that cool? What should I expect sound wise?

All I can say is wow! I definitely recommend this to any e55 owner. Stock like in normal driving but sound like machine guns at wot haha car seems to be a bit faster. I break traction in 2nd more easily which has scared me a couple times.

I think a video of the sound inside of the car might be interesting as well.

I've always been curious as to how much "drone" this type of modification introduces...

It costed me a pretty hefty 100 DOLLARS! My friend at my local muffler shop did it and with 2.75 piping. I bought a generic brand xpipe on ebay for 45 bucks and so $145 later, sounds like a beast specially in tunnels. As for videos, I dont have a camera but My Iphone 4G takes video don't know about the quality though? Should I make a vid anyways?

Details on the x pipe please... I'll probably get thes done after vacation. I pulled the secondaries and res on my C32 and was extremely pleased with the sound. A little worried that with the e55 it might be a little too loud...but I need some nastiness.

Can you replace the resonators with an x-pipe without pulling the secondaries?

I have my setup ready, just have to find time to get it installed. I will let you hear it when she is complete. I am getting rid of the bottle neck spout coming off the manifolds with 2.5" tubing, deleting the primary's with a 3" off-road midpipe going into a 3" magnaflow x, and replacing the resonator with 3" straight pipe. Stock AMG muffs outback though

I wish I could get a video of mine for you guys. It has headers, cats and straight pipes back to Meisterschaft exhaust. It is insane ad WOT. My neighbors all say it sounds like no other car they heard. I asked if it sounded good and they say it sounds awsome and 2 guys say it sounds like "money".

Its better to have the xpipe closer to the engine to balance exhaust flow. Straight pipes in place of resonator.

I just straight piped my resonator only.

Sounds a touch deeper, but I have VRP shorties, maybe that amplifies the effects.

Im a fan

I'm in the market for shorty headers that retain primary cats. How much were were vrp shorties and they still available? any other brands with shortys?

I bought them from a member here. You can find them for around $800-900.

-If I delete all 4 cats with a weld in straight pipe Will It be to loud inside?
-Does anyone else have this done? Hows it sound?
-What are typical gains from adding longtubes, cutting cats and re tune?

I considered doing this at Buckhead imports but the quid was more than I could justify for some short SS pipes and sound gain. Would you mind sharing if you get a shop to do it for a reasonable price out here? Will let you know what I find too.
OP i think the iphone vid will be just fine.

Nanayaw6...they charged me $250 to do the res & cats on my C32...which was on the high end but not total robbery. But...after that, I'd discussed having some more work done on that car and they just wouldn't listen to *what I wanted* to the point where I asked for my deposit back on a tune I was getting done. (group buy on the C32 forum)

I say me, you, chawkins gather our collection quidage and find a place to do all three vehicles... :-)

As to getting what you want, my convo on mods ended when they kept insisting that ideal A/F for my car would be somewhere in the 13 - 14. Don't get me wrong they seem to know their stuff on bimmers and maybe N/A benzes but i just wasn't leaning towards turning my car into a guinea pig. Although they did offer a "complimentary $300 lowering" if i got a **** ton of work done. i wont thread-jack anymore .. i'll shoot you a pm
OP still looking forward to the vid and glad you like the outcome.
