Florida with OEM header??

So my header just cracked on me -_- I have the PLM headers for 1 year and drove it for 40k miles... does anyone have an extra oem header for the e55 in Florida?? or do you guys recommend just getting it welded to fix it??

MB_Forever 01-18-2011 03:19 PM

The stock manifolds choke that engine to death.... I would try to fix it, replace it, or go with long-tubes :D

guysandiego 01-18-2011 03:48 PM

yeah- OEM really sucks -- Just borrow some OEMs from someone -- and get your headers fixed --- I got some but i am in Vegas

Jasoneo5 01-18-2011 03:52 PM

Sorry to hear that, on another note, what are your rear rims offset and width?

shardul 01-18-2011 05:08 PM

weld them and get them fixed, that is a easy job. did you email plm?

azncantonw211 01-18-2011 07:46 PM

Gonna email plm first thing tomorrow! But when I drive there is flames near the leak... Should I just tow it to a shop?? Is it normal to heat up that much near the header?

buffyclk500 01-18-2011 08:50 PM

i got some from a clk500 they might fit and i am in orlando

I agree with MB Forever.

The MBH headers are SS and they come with a lifetime warrenty.

You drove 40K miles in a year?

jkintegra 01-20-2011 09:07 PM

Just cracked?

Whats up bro. I dont think it just cracked. That thing was opened up when you came to the track last...

Can't believe you are just getting this thing taken care of now.

At least just go get it welded. Call me if you don't have anybody to do it..:y

KLR CLS 01-20-2011 10:10 PM

Where did it crack? On the merge or head flange?

azncantonw211 01-24-2011 12:31 PM

The picture is showing where the headers has cracked.. If my terming is correct it is from where the piping and the flange meet on the header. I slid a peice of paper to show how much was cracked to cause my not able to drive my car. I talked to kenny a few days ago and he has informed me to send my old ones back to him first before he will send me a new on after. I'll post back on what he says about his product **

that is such crap giving the customer the run around. if his weld failed they should just send a new set and you can ship the defective one back.

+1...not everyone has a spare car around while he sends it, they look over it, and then send a new one back. Just send the guy a new header you tard. How the hell else did your crapy weld break! Do you think he was using it as a crow bar or something!

KLR CLS 01-24-2011 01:55 PM

If it's on that flange, then you should be able to have a shop unbolt the cat mid pipes, and weld it from underneath. Should only be a couple hours of labour and beats removing and sending them out.

azncantonw211 01-24-2011 02:52 PM

thanks everyone for the support... i told him honestly that i wish i could just get it welded but the only reason i am asking for a new one is because nobody in orlando seems to want to work on headers :\

Zmydust 01-24-2011 03:34 PM

Anyone who has repaired a set of headers knows that they once they are repaired you keep on having to repair them unless some decent gussets are added and flex sections in the e exhaust.

azncantonw211 01-24-2011 06:04 PM

Good info Zmydust....appreciate that!

azncantonw211 03-12-2011 01:33 PM

Just to bring up an old post, i end up pulling off my damaged header and mailed it to PLM. They replaced my header. They will replace the header..

guysandiego 03-13-2011 05:08 PM

Nice -- Just make sure they take their time and get a good replacement out to you -- and you can send my OEM headers back ... but no hurry -- make sure the PLM headers are solid before you ship mine back.
