Removing the resonator and replacing with a longer 2.75" straighpipe to extend??
I want to extend my exhaust about 1.5-2". I already have cutouts and now want to remove the resonator AND replace it with a longer straightpipe to kind of "slide down" the exhaust an inch and a half-2" to have the tips sit out a little further. The diffuser hides them, bugs me, plus I want to remove the resonator.
Would this be a decent way to do this? Will anything stop the exhaust from sliding down? Hangers can be replaced I'm sure.
My only other option to extend it is cut the pipes and add in another. That will cost me a couple hundred to do..I would really rather not.
All info appreciated.

It's funny you want this because I had my secondaries and resonator removed and when they welded in the the straight pipe to delete said exhaust components they extended my exhaust. My tips stick out the back about 1" more than stock, I do not like it. Another thing is it caused the hanger on the muffler to come into contact with my frame and now sometimes when I come to a complete stop there is this SUPER annoying rattle from the hanger vibrating against the frame. Granted I have a C43 and you have an E55 but I don't see why they couldn't do the same thing for your exhaust but be careful what you wish for....

I wouldnt have touched it. But I put on a CF diffuser a few months back and it sort of hides the tips. I loved how clean they looked when they stuck out a tad, now its just meh.
I can see how moving the hangers would make sense, just gotta make sure theres somewhere to move them to..rattle isnt going to work here..
