If thats true I guess I'll see myself replacing gaskets on a monthly basis? lol

Thanks guys, with the help of the 2 threads i re-sealed my breather panel on valve cover and re-torqued the bolts, checked over the weekend and still leak free.

I purchased 2 gaskets just in case, but they can sit on the shelf until i need them!

just ordered bosch leads and oem mb plugs so they will be my next task, hopefully will cure my slightly rough idle and bucking when hot.

I don't see any oil leaks underneath my car, but lately when I stop the car and get out I catch just the slightest "whiff" of a hot oil smell as I walk around the front of the car....

I did a cursory peek around the engine bay but didn't see any obvious oil soaked parts or pooled-up oil.....

Seems weird that I'd be fighting a valve cover leak already (2006 w/ 27,000 miles)... but I suppose anything is possible???

djrabbi 08-30-2011 08:57 AM

turbo97se 08-30-2011 10:29 AM

LOL ... just go to the link I gave above and navigate through. As long as you have your VIN and pick the right part it's pretty straight forward. I just assumed you had an E55 since you posted here :)

what kind of sealent should i get? also how long after should i wait?

Any RTV silicone (I like Permatex Ultra) will work. Wait a few hours. There's a DIY here somewhere on the board if you look for it
