$29k for a 07 E63 what u think?
i am able to pick up a 07 E63 for $29k but the thing is the car have 96k miles. the owner use it for commuting so most of the miles are all fwy. owner have all previous maintenance records on the car. any thing i should watch out for since the car about to hit 100k miles is there's a big service coming up? or any thing i should know
or is it better just save up alittle more and buy one with low miles.
thanks in advance.

Takes the bus.
I'd stay away. Just my opinion though. That thing has been driven 26k miles a year. You could get an e55 with half the mileage for that price and have enough left over for a 63 front bumper conversion if that's your thing.

I'd never consider a car with more than 30k miles let alone that many. But that's just me. Sure it may have been well maintained but who knows the full extent of the wear and tear(that can be said of any car) on it. I'd save up, wait it out a little longer and look for one with less miles.. the prices of the 07s-09s will continue to depreciate.

I don't think anything is wrong. If you have the service history and it's to ur liking, pull the trigger already.

Every high mileage car I've ever owned has been generally less problematic than the lower mileage ones. I seriously believe that miles drive do nothing to a car vs. negligible maintenance.
$29K for an 07 E63 is a pretty sick price. Get a mechanic to drive it and let you know what he thinks.

When you start getting into that kind of mileage you better be planning to keep the car for a while. 98k doesn't sound too bad, but you may lose quite a bit when you try to sell. Imagine trying to get just $20k for a car with 120k miles........it might be a tough sell. The big advantage to buying used is that the depreciation has already occurred. When you throw high mileage into the mix, all bets are off.....cars have a finite lifespan.

My first reaction to the post was; "I am gonna cry". I bought mine new in Oct 2007 and now have 68,000 miles.
I would recommend changing the transmission oil again. Even though the manual says "Once at 40,000 miles", I will certainly change mine again before 100k. I also have the LSD and will change that again shortly. I would probably change the diff oil on a 100k mile car. You are also due for new spark plugs at 120k.
HA! see
As for other items, look at the windshield for pitting. Same with the entire front of the car. Plenty of rocks get kicked up during a commute.
Also check the rotor thicknesses.
Hope this helps.

Recommended additional maintenance checks for high-mileage vehicles at 150,000 miles
Check if all fluid levels and changes are updated

Rear axle - - - -
Check if air, fuel, ventilation filters are updated
Engine air filter - - - -

LOL - E's are used as taxi's over here, and still going strong at 300k+ kilometers. As has been said, maintenance is the key!
(And, no, I've never seen a '63 as a taxi!)

I think it's overpriced. For $29K you can buy an '06 E55 with half as many miles, or perhaps a little more. What would you rather have, 1 year older or an extra 4 years worth of driving/wear and tear?
I think it's worth perhaps $24K or $25K. An E55 with that many miles struggles to bring $20K.
My $.01 (not worth 2 cents)

agreed - its all in how the owner cared for the car - i just sold my 202 DD with over 125K miles on it and got top dollar cus I am super **** about keeping my cars maintained/clean - just get the service records and see about an aftermarket warranty for piece of mind since the car is such a deal -

I love cars with miles
means it was driven and taken care of. If it is a nice looking car get it.
I have seen cars with low miles being a PITA with seals leaking and something always going wrong. An everyday driver is better then a garage queen and will have less problems ever if it has more miles.

I can foresee the maintenance issues, that you might have to deal with. Granted these cars come with maintenance befitting of a $100,000 car. But maintenance is the key, a properly maintained car will last for a very long time. I would look over those maintenance records with a fine tooth comb, you don't want to be surprised by a $1500 or more bill, after the first month. If it was me, I would keep looking. But between the E55 and E63, the E63 would most likely have less issues then the E55. But that is my opinion as I have never owned a E55. But from all the published issues of the E55, the e63 is the better bet from a maintenance standpoint. Both platforms have the Airmatic suspension, which has its own issues. The E63 engines are bullet proof since their NA, no tubos, or Superchargers to deal with, the transmissions have been a problem for some, but I have never experienced any issues. Just my opinion mind you.

I've seen a couple of E63's in the low $30's, could be wanting to get them off their hands really quick or there could be something sketchy about them. I know of a couple E55's that have well over 100k miles and run great. Mercedes engines are built to last for way more then that. Electrical problems and wear and tear on Eterrior/interior/leather are probably more common incovenience problems that will come with the amount of miles driven. My W209 is now pushing close to 60k miles-all highway, but feels like its running better then when it had 30k. Really comes down to the condition it was kept in and if all the services have been updated.

Actually there are a couple of E63s as taxis and not too long ago, I remember getting an e-mail from private lounge about an E63 that has just passed the 400k mile mark

I think the high miles is "okay" if checked out, and all preventive items replaced already.
that said, just pretend you already bought it and next month you changed your mind, how confident to you feel that you'll get $29k?
i think the others are right...there's limited/tiny demand for 100k mile cars for $30k - $10-15k, perhaps. if anybody can afford $30k, they can usually spend another $5k and get a nicer one w/ lower miles and greater peace of mind, imho. good luck, and be patient...they're out there.

Silver car in NorCal? Think I saw the add. Sounds like it was well taken care of and it is only his "asking" price as he didn't say firm -- just no lowballers. He has a clear bra on it so chips may be minimum. If I were to consider silver I would offer $25k for it. As the previous poster said, you can get an 07 with half the miles for $35 if you are patient and look.
Don't let high "asking" prices scare you either. There is a limited market for these types of cars and many dealers don't want to be stuck with these on the lot a long time.

...speaking of dealers w/ high prices, MB Oakland is asking $43k for 2007 E63 sedan, and they have a E63 wagon asking $49k...we'll see how long they sit there, esp as gas breaks $4 and heads to $5/gallon.

Exactly! Check the records and if the car was maintained properly and passes inspection, buy the thing and enjoy it! Who cares about the mileage? People seem to be forgetting that these cars can actually be driven for several hundred thousand miles with proper maintenance.
