Coolant bleed question (will delete after a simple yes or no answer)

Is the boxed in nipple the same for bleeding air out after IC pump change? (Picture courtesy of Kompressed55)

FWIW, I straight wired my pump to a remote battery charger to confirm the pump was working and also to bleed the system without having the motor running for 20+ minutes.

thats a very small hole, i heard it was a 3/4 inch nipple. what size hose did you use, and you just took off the cap to the main coolant reservoir and stuck it (the hose ) in there?

3/4 inch is the hoses going into and out of the IC Pump. STD heater hose I.D.

For the bleed nipple I use a piece of clear fuel line, with the IC pump wired to a battery. One end on the nipple, the other end into the reso.

5/16" ID clear tubing is what I used. It fit on the nipple nice and tight. I bought mine from Home Depot for around $5 for 10' or so. Just make sure it is clear so you can tell when there are absolutely no bubbles remaining in the system.

I did the same thing.

Then started the car with the cap off, with the heat on full blast until the bubbles stopped, then put the cap back on.

Worked like a charm

Well, my IC pump will be shipped in tomorrow and I'm installing it Wednesday. Also, for the newbs, im going to try to take at LEAST 15 pics and do a DIY write up from lifting the car on a 2 post lift to opening the coolant reservoir. lol it may be a bit extreme, But when i was looking about 4 months ago, there were no detailed DIYs on the IC pump, so i figured what the hell, you only live once right?

Having some problems bleeding...

Coolant tank cap off, pump running, engine started, coolant line connected from bleed point to tank... did for 10-15mins no bubbles... also the fluid doesnt come out unless I move the pipe lower than the actually bleed point and into a container.

Supercharger shuts off after 4-5 hard pulls, but as soon as I turn the car off than on, I am good for more pulls... tells me there is still air in the system? Am I doing the procedure right?

I just got the line I attached to the bleed nipple and threw it to the floor and kept adding water till I felt convinced that all the air came out ( 1-2 minutes ).

^ Sound advice.

Also, restricting the downstream (return) hose aids in purging the intercooler’s naturally-occurring airlock.

So motor doesn't need to be on to do the bleed?

If I put the hose from the bleed point to the reservoir nothing comes out, as soon as I put the hose on the floor, it starts to flow! should I just let it bleed into a coolant jug on the floor and pour that back into the res? orrrrrrr it should be flowing from the hose straight to the res?

I cut the clear hose down to only as much as it takes to get to the res. Seems to build pressure quicker through the tube and I also used 2 clamps on that hose shown. Try that out.

@tbal you want to wire you IC pump to run with the motor off. Or turn the IC pump on through star or SDS with the bleed tube going in to the radiator overflow or fill point. Unless you have a split system then you run the clear tubing from the metal bleed point to your fill point for split system.

Just like Splinter mentioned above, stick a pair of hose clamps on the line shown, once I did that coolant started flowing nicely from the bleeder through the 5/16" line back to the reservoir. No need to drape the line across the ground.

Oh, and don't clamp it all the way shut, just enough to get the coolant flowing freely through your bleed line.

I never clamped the line, I will do that just to be safe and re-bleed it.
