Trunk Lid Closing?

When I first purchased the car I noticed a very small paint chip on the drivers quarter panel within the crevice of the trunk line. Over time, I noticed that the reason for the chip was that when the trunk lid violently closes, the corner of the lid lid slightly bounced against the quarter panel near the rear window. The chip never got any bigger and it never went thru bare metal (the primer was still intact). The interesting thing is that there are no tell tale signs that body work was ever performed on the car. The paint flow is pretty clean, no signs of masking, etc.

Other than the trunk springs and the two rubber outside bumpers, what adjustments may need to be made. I feel as if the closure is really hard and violent, any way to ease it up? The dealer couldn't figure it out. Any thoughts?

If your trunk closes with the speed of a guillotine, you need a new trunk module.

Wow, how would you know that and why wouldn't the dealer know that? The dealer gets paid by Mercedes for warranty repairs anyways, why wouldn't they diagnose the issue as being a faulty trunk module? They told me that they adjusted the springs. After further research, I found out that the springs were to assist the trunk opening, not closing. What do you recommend is the best way to convince the dealer that the trunk module is bad or needs to be replaced?

i'm sure you'll be able to demonstrate your concerns to your SA. if so, take this with you and have them knock it out.

Trunk Lid Opens or Closes Too Quickly While Operating with Remote Trunk Lid Control Button

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the trunk lid opens or closes too quickly while operating the remote trunk lid control switch on the driver's door (S15/1), a revised trunk lid control module (TLC) may be required.

Note: Typical time to open the trunk is approximately 2 seconds. Typical time to close the trunk is approximately 3 seconds. Do not replace any parts if vehicle in question's time to open or close is equal to or greater then above times.

To resolve, replace the trunk lid control module (N121) with the revised part listed below as per WIS document AR88.50-P-5300T.

Parts Information

Note: The following allowable labor operations should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair.

That sounds typical to me, at least according to the above notice and from what I have read when researching my power trunk issues. My trunk still won't open or close via power assist. I'm guessing either the pump or module needs to be replaced on mine.
