I haven't seen any pics of an E55 with a folding rear seat. I had heard it wasn't available on the E55.

MB Manhattan -- I was keen on making sure because I wanted to make sure I could fit my bike in the back (it is a pain in my 01 E55)

Split folding rear seats aren't available for the E 55 AMG (W211).
Reason: ride stiffness and rigidity (no kidding!).

I tried to order it for my E55 (being built next week), and netstar wouldn't take it.

Is mercedes really saying that the e500 with the folding seats is not structurally as strong as the normal body. That seems really strange.
And if the body is given greater strength, where does it show up? In cornering, stability.
handling? Skid pad and slalom figures are incrementally better for the 320 and 500, so what do the seats contribute to the e55?
I had heard that they would be available later on , perhaps next year.

...because I thought there was a new promotion that was on an e55's sticker that I saw a week ago that included the fold-down seats for only $50. Hmmm...

But structurally they're great. As a matter of fact, my 10-year-old won't ride in any other seat!
