The new F10 M5

BMW is starting to release their expensive publicity videos for the new F10 M5.

Wish they would have actually talked about the performance but it looks like they're going to be emphasizing the handling of this car. I have a feeling it's going to be pretty awesome on the twisties.

It looks more like the classic M5s before the E60 M5. And I like that they stayed with oval exhaust tips. Plus two of them didn't have sunroofs so maybe you can option for sunroof delete.

New E63 or new M5? It should be decent competition. Although I have a feeling the M5 will still be the handling king.

New M5 all the way for me. I can't bring myself to love the W212 and the F10 will be more powerful (than a non-P30) for once AND rock the house in the handling department. The W212 does win in the interior department from what I've seen, but you still can't get it in RED in the Merc.

Can't wait to see it in person. The exhaust note is unreal.

As much as I appreciate Mercedes and AMG engineering, between the W212 E63 and the new M5 it's the M5 for me, too. It's really that much more of a true sports sedan.

Choosing between an autobahn cruiser and a corner carver, in the end I prefer the latter. Sure, the W212 does handle better than before but it's still a Mercedes and will always be on the soft side of the equation.

Like you mean the Electronic Assist Steering in the F10.

A bit corny video but finally a normal BMW to follow in AMG's philosophy.

I can just smell the 1000hp Bimmers and AMGs in the future.

Friggin tune only and we got reports of 700hp EASY outta engine tune only.

THANKS BIMMER for keeping the heat on AMG to keep the HP flowing.

Remember those puss's tried to declare the "HP War" over.

Bimmer was like, "For you guys maybe, not us"

AMG had to follow suit.

I remember reading that report clear as day and thinking "this is far from over" and there it is.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
AMG for me, both great cars. I just hope comparisons will have the CP in the AMG vs. just the plain version.

my nod goes to the M5. The interior and the exterior rock the w212. Plus it will out handle the w212. But as far as HP I think it is going to be a push.

I doubt it'll have the same rack as the non-M F10. That car is really a smaller 7-series now instead of a bigger 3-series like the E60 was.

The 2012 5.5TT W212 E63 will also have electronic steering now. So we have to see how the two compare on the track. We'll know soon enough.

The video is corny but it's the same kind of expensive video productions that AMG has been doing recently, too.

Competition is a good thing

Correct. ///M makes it a habit of tossing parts steering bin racks. They stated before that they'd never use the adjustable ratio rack because it's inconsistent.

The thing I miss most about my M5 is the steering wheel, and the rack that was VERY tight.

new M5 is not a sedan any more. you can't drink coffee unless the car is in P.

axle is connected directly to the body. for a stiffer car as they say.

There's a reason why BMW's didn't have cup holders until the mid-90's when America insisted they include them.

The outside does not impress me, although no BMW ever did - performance wise looks interesting.

The M5 will be the better sports sedan (suspension and gearbox).

But the gap between both vehicles will be narrower than previous chassis.

I'm sure both engines can be tuned easily...but there is something about having a 5.5 TT vs 4.4TT... there is always a limit to boost before the turbos needs to be swapped.

I have a feeling the Merc will have plenty more to put out before the "turbo /snails" need to be replaced.

Good to see the horsepower wars are still in full effect.
