From G-Paddles in the UK?
We have been waiting for an update on whether he could adapt these paddles for the E55. Did you buy paddles specific for the E55 as his website still shows he is looking for a solution for both E55 and SLK350?

Hi All
As a follow on forum Gorgonian post , We now have the first two sample pairs of paddles for the E , CL & S 55 class AMGs , we are installing the paddles tomorrow afternoon to a E55 & may be a CL55 , these are just a replacement to the button no coding cutting or modding .
Cheers
Andy

Hi All
What myself & Gorgonian have been working on is a complete replacement for the plastic button found on E55s , You remove tHe button & install the paddle that's it , no removing the steering wheel , no removing tHe air bag , no cutting , fitted in about 10--15 mins job done .
@94jedi they work just the same but easier to fit.
Cheers

This conversion requires enlarging the steering wheel mount points for the button shifters
Waiting for Gordon's for sure

Hi All
Ok S or CL55 , Owners in the UK & around the Midlands area , I have one pair of button replacement G Paddles that I need to install into one of the above AMGs , This Paddle is from our injection moulding tooling that we have just had the first two pairs of samples , We have one pair on test in a E Class running 750 bhp , It will take about 10-15 mins to install the paddles & requires no modding of your steering wheel ,no cutting ,no coding & we will not even have to take your airbag out or disconnect your battery , If for some reason you do not want to keep the paddles we can just pop the buttons back in no problem . All we ask is you use the paddles & give us feed back & for all that work you get to keep the paddles ,
Message me on this site or email us on gpaddles@gmail.com
Cheers

Hi All
Ok we now have both piars of paddles out on test one in the UK & the other over in the states . Both were installed in less than 20 mins & reports back is they love them & working as they should . We have one more pair of first off samples which I will be posting to a customer in Germany on Monday who has been working with From the begining of G Paddles . We are still pushing our toolmaker to make sure these paddles work right out of the box no messing about or setting you just unplug , plug & play . So if your looking for paddles for your E , S or CL 55 with no cutting , no coding , no removal of airbags & no coding , We are very very close .
Cheers
Andy

G-Paddle Review
I was lucky enough to be a US beta-tester on the E55 platform for these paddle shifter drop in upgrade.
Andy, Michelle and the team at G-Paddles are a real pleasure to work with. I will post a seperate review up title "G-Paddle Upgrade Review" or similar in a few days.
Awesome stuff coming our way soon you guys!
The G-Paddles are easily installed and more true paddle then the E63 paddles. Look for more in my review after the weekend!

I suppose it's not particularly relevant, but my ML350 BlueTec Diesel, which is pretty much optioned-out, surprisingly, has paddle shifters (I do not believe I have ever used them). Personally, I prefer the feel of the original button setup on the E55 (which I do use all the time).

I'll presume your question is NOT rhetorical and you are actually curious. While those who view their Mercedes as a quarter-mile car may have little need for shifting gears manually (yes, the car will never shift "exactly" when you bump the touchshift or use a paddle) ... for every other form of spirited driving, shifting is more convenient with paddles ... For downshifting on corner entry and just keeping it in the right gear in the hills what other choice to you have (other than shifting?) I would think that if you used manual mode on your e55 you would get to like the paddles. ... and you would likely find that the car shifts (downshifts in particular) close enough to instantly after you push the paddle.
While it could be argued that adding paddles will not likely improve your ET .... It can never be said that (unlike some other mods) it will require you make any compromises to your Mercedes in terms of ride quality and comfort.
For myself, I started (7 years ago) with an AMG that had no paddle option (SLK32), and even if I had not come from a racing background (10 years racing in NASCAR and then other forms of racing as well), I'm sure I would have been dis-satisfied with just the touchshift. So I created a kit for the R170 and Chrysler crossfires to add a factory-like paddle implementation. Was it for everybody ? no ..... are a lot of people enjoying the kit ? (hell)yes.
Then 4 years ago, I created the paddle converter module to solve this issue of making paddles plug and play on early 2003 through 2004 e55s (and 2003-2006 SL, S, CLK, CL 55s) .... Is this upgrade for everybody? no ... Is it for anybody who likes to shift and wants to bring their early AMG up to a newer spec ? yes
Do I have paddles on all of my daily drivers? Yes (well almost all, I don't have them on my 7.3L powerstroke F250 ... that WOULD be silly : )
I hope I answered your question.
Cheers,
Chris

I realize this thread is very old, but I am buying a 2003 CL 55 AMG and was curious about getting paddle shifters to replace the ridiculous button shifters on the car. I saw that you had come up with a plug and play adaptation and that it fits CL 55s of my vintage, can you let me know where I can buy this product?
Thank much~

I can give you information on how to modify your wheels to mount the paddles, or I can modify it for you.
Send me an email at latemodel21@yahoo.com and I can answer any questions you may have.
