Third time's a Charm!!! 10's all day long

I realize most people just want to read about the meat and potatoes; the numbers, the mods, the weather conditions, but you would not be getting the full story. A lot of friends, sponsors, and sponsors who have became close friends, have contributed and pulled off this team effort.

Below is a pic of our crew for the day with Bruce standing in the second position from the right. Myself, behind the camera...in low profile fashion.

Here's a shot of the cars we brought down. The E brought home the quickest pass of the day.

Where is the meat and patatoes????

lowprofile Nov 9, 2011 10:04 AM

About my E55. This was it's third time to the track, with a grand total of 4 full passes before this past Monday. On Monday, 8 full passes, all in the tens! So, 12 passes total, 8 of which are in the tens! That is pretty incredible if you think about it. Taking it one step further, she ran extremely consistent: 10.79, 10.80, 10.81, 10.83, a pair of .86, and two passes on a soft launch with a 10.90 & 10.92 all at 128 or 129.

Mods are pretty much the same as everyone else's; original prototype TTM throttle body(lowpro flush mount design), pulley, headers, TTM fuel rail/injectors(I cannot say enough good things about this setup), OE Tuning(one of Jeremy's standard tunes, no race gas tune...for now), Quaife and new rear subframe bushings installed by TTM, and cooling mods with a lowpro design intercooler and heat exchanger.

Stock converter??

GregMB Nov 9, 2011 10:16 AM

What's the story with the exhaust? The video is a little dark but I don't see the traditional 4 exhaust tips sticking out.... MBH longtubes? Bruce's X-pipe? 1st Cat delete? What else? What else?

Is this thing still quiet and driveable on the street (with street tires) or has it rounded the corner and now become a "weekend only" bully car? :nix:

It sounds like the cooling mods are a "new development" item at TTM, so we're not likely to find them on his website yet? I think a lot of guys here are simply blown away by the low 60' times, and what appears to be an almost effortless march into the 10's.....

I'm sure the story isn't quite that simple, but so far that's how it reads.

Sounds very loud to me. Looks like there isn't mufflers on the car, does it have some of exhaust removed?

Wow Very impressive that must feel nice to have a 4 door sedan that looks completely harmless lol. Then it rips the track up with those numbers. Congrats to all of you guys who put in the effort.

Stock converter. Just a well planned car with an awesome driver! Bruce was Mr. Consistency out there. This was the first time I turned the keys over to him, and he got comfortable real quick!

Header to x-pipe and then open. We built a set of hangers and attached them to where the cross brace would bolt in. Then it was simply unbolting the exhaust just before the resonator. I don't feel we gained much if anything aside from weight reduction. She is a daily driver. Took all of 20 minutes to bolt the exhaust back up.
The cooling mods were just installed last week and are working just as I hoped. Consider it as a project which is being fully tested before being released. Even then, each instal would be done in house and customized to the owners needs.

Greg, I glanced right over your last comment. Was it simple? No, a lot of thought went into this car. I couldn't count on my hands and toes how many times during the past month my wife would stop in mid conversation to say, "you're thinking about your car again, aren't you?"...conversation over!
The point is, 1) it is attainable, without sacrificing all the things we love about this platform, 2) she is consistent and safe!!! Having performance is an awesome thing....when you are not at the ragged edge of catastrophic failure. We have over 75k on her and I'm confident she will be with us for some time to come.

Yes, she is sitting in the driveway back in civilian mode, all docile and proper. Thank You!

Going to load up a couple of more vids then I'm out for a while.

I guess you "fixed" the ic crack ;)

Congrats man!! You got me all itched up. All the tracks in Ohio are closed. Next Year, next spring!!

chawkins2001 Nov 9, 2011 11:20 AM

What weight savings, looks like a corbeau driver seat, pulled passenger seat, pull the rear seats at all, and pulled rear exhaust? Did you run a braille outback? Pretty much gutted for the track day?

I would hate to piss off the dude on the far left by the way, he looks HUGE:)

V12Godspeed Nov 9, 2011 11:22 AM

Congratulations, Very stout numbers. Bruce is definitely the driver. :y

A DD with those kind of numbers - All I can say is awsome. Now I know why I didn't get a answer last week when I called Bruce.
I look forward to working with Bruce also.

Those are some good 60' times, you had to have some DR on? And was that at Atco?

Front seats pulled with a Sparco installed. Rear seat in with my kids car seats still mounted out back. I have a pic of the interior which I'll have to post as I thought it was funny. Yes on battery and mufflers. Keep in mind, she is no light weight. Every option, aside from parktronic/distronic, was checked off on the order form including headlight washers, pano, automatic sunshade, automatic trunk opener. Then there is 245+ behind the wheel, and stock rotors too.

He is a ROCK!!! The guys he trains with make him look small but he can out lift the majority of them.

I don't know if you have ever weighed your car but I have all of that too. Nothing taken out of the car with a regular battery and spare tire in the trunk with 1/4 tank of gas the car weighted 4180lbs (no driver). That is with the 19" SL63 amg wheels on the car.

Bruce was driving?? **** with a normal sized man in there that car would run low 10s!!:rolf::rolf::D Seriously congrats. Hell of an achievement to run consistent 10s!
