E55 differences - 2004 vs. 2005?
hi guys,
just curious what the differences are between the two years.
i've seen some 2004 nice ones w/ 100k miles for $22k...and also some 2005-2006 E55s for closer to $25k (the seats look different i noticed).
also, can anyone explain also whether it's true that the IC definitely needs to be changed/upgraded?

Not much difference. A late '05 would have the rolltop cover in the center console instead of the split armrest. An earlier '04 may not have the spare tire - though this seems to be quite random.
'06 models have a supposedly better steering rack and aluminum pedals.
I think differences across years are small enough not to factor into a buying decision. But the car you like and are comfortable with, regardless of the year.

2005 E55 AMG
I have an 05 and my intercooler pump was dead when I bought it.
As for the differences, the center console is different, the center speaker grill in the dash is different and the speedo is different ( 160 vs 200 ). Can't think of anything else.

I believe the aluminum pedals were chnged beginning with the 05 built in Nov 04 and later. Mine was built in Feb 05 and it has them. Also, the solar cell option for forced ventilation while parked in the hot sun were discontinued after the 04 MY.
