I was driving last night from work and heard a loud boom noise.. car start pulling to the left, so I pulled over immediately. Never again I buy Hankook tires ever again.

But was it because of badly made tire or did something damage the tire?

Yikes...

A bargain tire that destroys an expensive wheel is ultimately a VERY expensive one.

Is the wheel OK?

I didn't buy hankook because I wanted to be cheap, EVO12 Ventus had great reviews in every magazine I saw, after POS Pirelli tires that were falling apart all the time, Ventus were solid. I don't really know what cause the damage, I was going on a highway around 70mph when this happened. Hopefully HRE wheel is not badly damaged.

Never had any issues and I have had them on lots of cars. Must have been an issue or just a bad one. I am sure every tire has one. Hell Toyota has had some recalls but they still make one reliable car!

Gald it wasn't worse.

I had a PS2's do the same exact thing. Our cars carry a lot of neg camber in the rear, tough on tires.

Good luck with the HRE!

Right, it just comes with the territory of our cars, lots of power, heavy and camber. Its a beast for Gods sake, a rubber tire is no match for long!

Me too and from personal experience with Contis and PS2s on my wagon. Someone on this forum suggested that I drive in "C" (comfort), instead of always on "S2" (Sport") and that could make a difference. I would always get these "cracks" along the inside sidewall....3x with the PS2s and 2x with the Contis. I even had 2 alignments from the dealership just to make sure all was ok, but had the same type of tire problem. Since it was on the inside, I never knew until it was too late or during a service.

I now drive in C all the time and no more of those types of tire problems and blow outs. I did change to Falkens. Maybe it was the change to Falkens combo with driving in C?

+1 to the negative camber comment above. The rears especially on the E55 carry a good amount of camber that wears the insides of the tires quickly. This can be deceiving because you can look at your tires and think that your tread is good from the outside when in fact the insides can have the cords showing. Proper tire inflation is also important as low pressure can cause issues with the sidewalls as well. I've had the same thing happen to a rear tire on my E55 but with a nitto Invo tire. Through the life of my ownership with the E55, I have found that ~10k is about the max out of a set of tires on the rear and around 15k for my fronts.

Very true. I had a dunlop and michelin do same.
Gets scary after you cook triple digits then lift the car and see the cords..

From the looks of the lip on the inside of rim, you frequent automatic car washes.. the tire and rim have been dragging down the track and finally gave???? Just a thought.

Had this happen on a set of Toyo Proxes and Goodyear Eagle F1's, luckily both times I wasn't traveling at more than 40MPH. Glad you are ok.

Is there a kit available for our cars that can adjust the camber? I thought I came across something here before, but haven't seen many posts about it.

I didn't realize until 1 month later i checked my tires pressure every month as safety check. Then I put the 36 front 38 back for W210. But W211 34 front 36 back. But thinking to put 36 front 38 back just not sure if its ok or not.

Good point, I didn't think about it. But I go to car wash once in 4-5 months, usually just wash it my self. By looking at all the posts in this thread, looks like it can happen with any brand of tires. I have 285/30/19 on the rear and change tires every 16 months, those tires lasted less than a year

Hey Ilya, that is my old beast telling you she does not like to go thru car washes. She likes a nice warm mit! She was never in a car wash when I had her so dont **** her off again and she will be nice to your tires!
