Akebono Brake Pads are Awesome.

Got about 3,000 miles on the new rotors and Akebono Cermic brake pads now and I'm really loving the lack of brake dust on the wheels. Since installing the Akebono's, my wheels stay cleaner than the car. Literally, there is no black dust AT ALL on the wheels. The real question is, why doesn't the factory install these or something similiar?

Where's the best place to buy these pads? Thanks

Exotic-metal55 02-22-2012 01:08 PM

Yes sir!

I wish they made these for my black series... the OEM pads are extremely dusty

Grantwood, do you track your car on the Akebono pads?

How were they out on the track? Bite? Fade Resistance?

I had a set on my E55 and didn't like the bite, but am wondering if they are better when you break them in. I switched to Porterfield R4S's, but feel they are a bit aggressive for the street....

I get them from the same place I get my Hancooks, TR.

On the track I found them to be good, but I don't think we ran more than 10 laps so they were not bad but on longer runs I'd deffinately want to change them out for something a little more aggressive. Bite was consistent and I had very little fade but I think that's due to the rubber hoses heating up. Needless to say I have braided SS lines on the way.

2004RennTechE55 02-22-2012 06:05 PM

Why the new lines?

mikey33 02-24-2012 05:53 AM

This is one of my next things I got to get done. The stockers are just disgusting on how much dust they create! :X

Performance. Good dusty pads brake and feel freaking awesome with fantastic initial bite. Ceramic pads tend to feel kinda spongy and fade easier. I bought some akebono's as well cause the dust is just too much.

Mikey - Deffinetly go for the akebono pads, you've done other mods so far and if you like keeping your car clean, this is one mod you will appreciate all the time. I've now started to use them for my other cars too.

++++

Akebono's are the best pad that money can buy! I don't have to clean my wheels every 3 days!

The rubber lines heat up under heavy constant braking. When you apply the brake the line expands slightly and reduces the pressure slightly during the initial application of the brake.

I found the Akebono EUR1121 Ceramic front pads about $50 cheaper on Tirerack.

Is there a big difference between EUR984 and EUR1121.

I dont take my car to the track. I have white tubine-type rims that are always dirty.

I am looking to get the Akebono EURO Ultra Premium Brake Pads to replace my front pads, but unsure as to exactly which model number. I've seen EUR986, EUR984, etc. Which one's fit a 2012 e350 4matic?

Thanks in advance.

sljacks 10-16-2015 09:37 AM

I actually think I found the right size. Can anyone confirm? Says they fit my model for front.

Thanks again.

I understand the lack of dust as a plus... but do you really feel like they bite as hard as the oem metallic pads?

I think they bite as hard... If not harder... But it's not like I'm on a road track heating them up all that much...

WideLowandFast 10-17-2015 04:29 PM

Is Akebono producing pads for the E63 yet??
