just ordered some Hankook Ventus V12's
**** I shoulda ordered last week when there was that $100 VISA card... at least there's still the $80 rebate going on.
oh well, they should be here in 3 days...
got the standard 245/40/18 up front and 275/35/18 out back...
anyone have good pricing on them so I can PM Americas Tire? (currently quoting at $1k!)
found a set of 4 on TireRack for $777 that I'm going to Price Match
I asked the guy at the shop, he put the Michelin PSS at the top of the list (and priced accordingly) he said that the Michelins do support 45k mile warranty and will pro-rate on staggered tires, they also provide free towing up to 100 miles if one of your tires goes out... so you pretty much really get more than what you're paying for
the only bad thing he said about the Hancooks is that they wear down quickly, not as fast as the PSS - but they're VERY sticky

smooth as silk all the way up to 160mph and redic grip in the corners for a street tire

How does TireCrack’s quote circumvent FET and that ubiquitous “State Waste Tire Fund Fee” for commoners?
Regardless, I source mine from a local retailer who has taken good care of me over the years.
A few extra dollars is inconsequential when the upside is consistently receiving superior service.
He’s always pleased -although seldom surprised- how quickly they’re due for replacement.
+1 on Michelin’s PSS.
*off topic*
Which tires are you installing on the GMC Denali? I’ve had good luck the LTX M/S2.

the inner fronts are shot, I can peel the rubber off LOL
Michelin Sport A/S Plus all around currently - the guy at the tire shop said they're great for miles, but I should definitely feel a difference going to the V12s

Total crap tires IMO. I had one set. They lasted 12K miles. REALLY noisy toward the end.
Since then have bought only Pilot sport 2 or now Pilot Super Sport. Last set I got 30k on.
Michelin makes great tires. If you are buying them because they are cheap, or because the PS2 or PSS are too expensive well you should have bought a different car.

Not a fan of the Hankook brand. Since they're cheap, I usually end up putting them on my 2005 ML. That's the car I beat up, so I'm not overly concerned with tires for it. And even then, I'm not crazy about them. I'd never put them on my AMG. Michelin or Pirelli for me, they really are better tires.
