Wow...what a moron. I worked at a dealership years back and seen this before, service dept would always void the warranty...understandably.

justinwrock Jun 1, 2012 06:24 PM

Wowza.

Saw this before on an ML430 a friends shop was servicing. Had horrible lifter tick, but still ran.

JOSHE55 Jun 1, 2012 06:28 PM

yum, what happens if i dont do the D service, the warning popped up about 30 days ago, but my next oil change schedule is in july, so i was going to wait till then to get the D service, or i may have to do it mid this month, anyways anyone know how much the D service costs and what it covers? every time i call the dealer, they tell me there is only an A and B service

 Was the motor still functional?

If so let that be a testament to the durability of the M113 as well as a testament to the stupidity of the owner :smash:

$100 + 20 minutes and your oil is changed...

That or they didn't use synthetics :nix: That oil still looks wet whereas I'd expect the oil to be cooked or dryer looking... at least that's how conventional oils behave.

AMG_RL Jun 1, 2012 06:46 PM

Lemme guess, the owner was a woman?

Thats pretty much what I've seen on the Ford's that came into the dealership that never changed the oil, a gunked up mess.

My brother had a shop and every single time I saw this scenario it was because they used conventional oil with synthetic intervals.

I sort of agree...but even with level of hotness...there is still a limit.

fill the crankcase with Diesel and run it for a few minutes then open the oil pan, would look like a Denny's fry grill

Sir-Boost-a-Lot Jun 2, 2012 05:19 PM

Looks like a Chrysler 2.7 engine with regular oil changes and 30k miles

djrabbi Jun 2, 2012 05:31 PM

My dad's lexus was like this after the dealership says it was synthetic so we waited 10k but regular oil was used....

e55amgrocket Jun 2, 2012 05:49 PM

I've seen that so many times. I replaced a 5.7l hemi in a ram 3500 dually years ago and the guy said "didn't have time to change it". Well $7k later he wish he did. In my diesel I run synthetic with a centrifuge filter and go 25k-35k between oil changes and also send sample for lab analysis. Never had a problem.
