Best iPhone OBD-II software??

I have seen several threads in the archives, but they all appear to be rather dated.

So, please refresh. Does anyone have a preference in iPhone OBD-II scanners (either wifi or bluetooth)???

Rev, Fuzzycar, Dashcommand, etc.

Thanks, gotta use up some itunes gift cards...

Does the iPhone need to be jailbroken to work with other wifi OBD connectors???
If so, not sure why the App store would be selling such an app...

Is there another wifi connector that can be bought that does not need a jailbreak???

Thanks

Agreed, it is a bit pricey, but have you priced a stand alone scanner?
This is wifi, on the fly, and utilizes your phone. All in all, pretty handy I'd say (if, it delivers what it says it does...)

Read my post and follow he link.

Kiwi builds a wifi that works with apple devices and you can buy the app you want..... Rev or dash! They are pretty interesting and No jailbreak needed.

Not cheap.

This is the REV app. in he hardware they mention other wifi devices, but are in EU, Kiwi is USA... Easier to find.

You may of course use wireless as previously mentioned, right now there is a great and simple jailbreak for the current OS 5.1.1 Absinthe 2.0.4 will jailbreak your phone in one easy connect from your PC / mac. Its a full untethered jailbreak and the simplest I have seen to date.

I've been using the Rev Lite (free version) on my iPhone just to get familiar with it.

My PLX WiFi will be arriving today so I'll see if it pairs to the app as easily as it's supposed to.

Looking at the two most popular apps (Rev and DashCommand) it seems like Rev isn't being actively supported by DevToaster. Last update to the app was Jan 14, 2010 (Revision 2.0.2)

Conversely, PalmerPerformance appears to be much more actively updating their app.. (Rev 3.1.0 was released on Aug 9, 2012).

From that I can only conclude that DevToaster is going to let their product age, and not invest any more resources into maintaining it. If it works "as is"... great, but if there are limitations or bugs they'll likely never be addressed.

PalmerPerformance (DashCommand) seems to be working harder to add nice little touches and features to their app. It just feels like they are trying harder to be a leader in this space and offer the strongest product out there.

Rev is currently priced at $39.99
DashCommand is currently priced at $49.99

It seems like once you've made the commitment to spend some money on a good datalogging app, you'd be well served to spend the extra $10 on the one that is still evolving and improving.

Anyone care to comment on recent experiences with either product?

That basically where I'm heading with this thought process....

Any interesting discoveries in your datalogs since you started using the app?

My plans was to do some basic datalogging on my 100% stock ECU / engine to establish a baseline for things like timing, IATs, AFR, etc. Then take advantage of the current EC Tune Promo and see what the logs look like afterwards.
