Transmission fluid,urgent .
Hi there, I just purchased a 06 E55 with only 9k mile. Overall the transmission is good due to the low mileage, but it jerks between lower gears especially when I approach a red light.
The problem seems worse in S mode. But overall, there is no obvious sign of transmission failure.
My question is, do I need to change the trans fluid? I know it is only 9k mile but this car is already 7 years old. This is a tough decision to make since the mileage is extremly low, but the aga is kinda high.
Many friends on this forum change their fluid solely based on mileage, has anyone changed their fluid based on age?
I want to hear your opinion and I accpreciate that!

Not on age but definitely on mileage
There's currently a debate on whether to change your tranny fluids at appropriate intervals as mercedes says. It's on another forum so i cant link you to it.
Drive around in comfort mode, sounds like it's downshifting back to first gear in sport mode.
Might be worth to break the black cap, buy a dipstick and see what color the tranny fluid is?

holy sh*t 9000 miles!!! could be a record for lowest miles on an e55 lol. I would just change it only 299 at the dealer. just had mine done 2 weeks ago.
I have done about 100 miles worth of driving since and all good so far !

First off I would check around at other MB dealers to get a better price thats what i did, 500 is a complete rip off ! I didnt really notice anything after it was done. The only reason I got it done is because MB recommends for the trans service to be done every 39,000 miles and i turned 39,000 on odo.

for peace of mind, go and get the tranny fluid drained at an indy shop. You can get the parts online for cheap and pay for the labor at the shop if they will let you bring your parts. Also, you can get the tranny fluid online pretty cheap as well vs the OEM thats pretty expensive per quart.
