I have my old plastic lens, which are still in fair condition, if anyone wants them to bring them to a bodyshop and get it sanded down with 1500 and clear coated. They'll look brand new!

Next on the list are Osram bulbs. I just remembered my W210 came with Osrams. No wonder the W211 output was so pale in comparison.

Sorry for the thread revival but about to take on this project this weekend and looking for a bit of insight. Did any of you guys that opened your headlights ever remove the leveling motor by chance? Trying to figure out if it is held in by screws. Mine is humming but the projector is not moving so thinking I may need to swap that while in there. Was also curious if they ball end of the motor rotates with the shaft while the motor pulls it back and forth.
TIA
TIA

I know, old thread, but is it anyone who have before/after photos of this? Have really bad output on my lights to (Bi-xenon with cornering), and wondered if it is enough to just replace the lens, or should i replace the lens and the reflector?

Man I can’t recall. I know I fiddled a bit with it and my pic makes it look super easy. Post some pics and I will try to recal what else I might have done.

They cant suck.
You think Mercedes would put ****ty headlights on a 100k car?
Theres something wrong with yours. Either that or the leveling is off(they point too high and are not hitting the ground)
I had this problem on my w202.

i replaced my bulbs with new Osram 664140CBI Xenarc Cool Blue Intense...basically super white white light...much brighter. Wish I could aim the headlights up 1-3 more degree's though as newer cars have their beams at a higher angle than what my car is configured for.
one thing to mention is that European cars generally have Fresnal lenses to disperse light evenly and softly across the beam. Japanese cars tend to have clear or clearer lens's which can create hot spots and area's of shallow beam strength.

I looked online and on the forums and they all said...the adjusters are for non Xenon's...and they do nothing for the self leveling headlights. Need STAR/DAS to adjust and reaim Xenons. correct me if i'm wrong?

asked my Mercedes repair shop to see if he was able to adjust height using Star/DAS. he said he wasn't able to find anywhere to set this and its linked by computer to my height sensors. he said, it might be in there, but he wasn't able to find where to set this. my headlights can move up down, left right using the headlight motors.
anybody have any ideas on how to adjust the height, or where in the Star/DAS this setting is located?

Yeah, I managed to pull apart and mod the lights as the OEM units are lame, to say the least...
Below is a Koito Bi-Led module that was removed from a Lexus. These are bright, sharp and run relatively cold compared to Xeon. They also have a daytime running light function as well.
I linked 2 units together on each side and they draw enough current not to throw an error on the standard beam. The high beam needs a resistor each side as it only activates 2 small solenoids.
The DRL LED's in the sequential turn modules are linked to the Koito units and all switch on when the key is turned. The turn signal will automatically switch back to DRL after the turn.
All the wiring and relays etc... are located in the light housings.
I wanted the SLR look with the headlights and I hated the round fog lights. There are some other DRL aftermarket big dot low-resolution units going for gold plated prices around that I didn't think much of so I came up with this custom solution.
Standard beam x 4, High beam x 4, DRL x 6, Parking x 4 and sequential turning with switchback function.
All 4 units off eBay for $100 bux Aussie each... Bargain bro!

Mounted to the stock Xeon mount...
Made this out of plastic scrap and chromed it with a kit off eBay...
All mounted and wired up. The stock beam adjustments are retained...
New covers off eBay...
This was a bit tricky to do. This is the latter 63 clip so I butchered the old 04 center grill to make 2 new fill in grills. Love that factory feel !...
All painted and slapped together. Just need to align the hood and light assemblies. The above turn signals are also LED units...
Parking function... The outside units are 3000k and the inside are 5000k. This is purely aesthetic only...
Now there's something different...
This is actually an 03. The gap will be sorted soon! Thought I'd share, Latters!

guys, just do a full overhaul of your headlights. These cars are cheap now but has issues. The projectors suck *** and the lens. I had my e-class fully done and it was night and day differences.
