My flat black E55... $250
So after watching a few videos I went out and got two gallons of plasti dip, two gallons of thinner, some tape, and an electric spray gun.
came out flawless. Would never do it with paint and wrapping always turns out crap, or you have to spend big $ to do it right. so for $250... nice!

The job came out very nicely and professional, but I could never ever do that on one of my cars. If your satisfied, I just hope it holds up for you :)

That is sick! Do they have all different colors or just the matte?

they have black, white, red, blue, yellow, lime green, and repsol type orange. you can mix colors to make your own too. |
Dude you paid $250 for all that plastidip but you still can find a grille for your car?
|
Sorry, it looks like primer and unfinished.
|
Definitely not a fan of the look or spray painting a Mercedes for that matter.

I don't know what to say, other than you totally ruined the value of your car.

to the OP- Id like to see much closer shots to see how you handled the tougher parts of the car (nooks and crannies) |
This plastidip stuff - is it like a matte black from an aerosol can? It looks evenly applied and well executed in the pictures, but how does it look up close and under strong sunlight or headlights at night? I sprayed my Celica matte black (from a can - it's my race car and it gets battle scars from time to time) but up close and at angles, it does look a bit cheap and tacky due to seeing the imperfections - I want to know if that's the case with your car now?
Here's a pic of my Celica - it looks 'even' here, but that's the camera lying: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...9062010876.jpg |
not a fan

Looks okay but this is getting played out now...
|
Nothing like being able to change the color or your car in a few hours and relatively cheap. I like it, but the grille really needs to be changed.
|
i really want to try this stuff! and he is right. this stuff actually protects the car's paint and comes right off.. I would love to do my car orange or lime green just for fun! heck its only 250 bucks! id do it just for a weekend or a special event!
|
pics without all that Instagram filter bs!! oh and get a grill!!!
|
Nice!!! Post some more pictures!!!
|
Spend the money and get a proper vinyl wrap. It costs more but it looks 100 times better. The only good Matt colors I've seen are Grays and Whites.
|
With all the money you saved, you can get a good camera. :)

Please don't pressure wash your car like someone on the g35 forums. Ruined his paint. Hopefully yours is on thick enough to peel off.
