05 Mercedes E55 AMG Transmission problems?
Hey everyone,
Im new to this forum and new to MB, had couple of BMW's before but this time i picked up 05 E55, love this car very much but have a question:
- when car downshifts (when i take my foot from accel pedal) it kicks, and it kicks hard enough to let me think its not working right, usually it happens when in traffic on small speeds, when speeding kicks few times,
- dont feel any kicks while accelerating
Please let me know if this is normal thing on those E55's or should i be worried? Still have a warranty from the dealer so i would really aprecciate if someone can help me with a good advice,
Car has 66k miles on it.
Thanx everyone!

I'm having the same issue right now. Let me know what you come up with. Dealers keep saying it's normal. But I know in my guts, this doesn't feel normal. Also I reset the transmission adaptation every couple weeks.

This makes things much better:

My transmission is just funky if I don't do this once in a while and I even have EC TCU tune, they just need to be reset occasionally to run the way we want them to.

Also, take out the trans control unit and check it for fluid! If it has fluid in it, clean with suitable electronics safe cleaner, dry with compressed air...install new trans connector and you are all set.

Went to mechanics the other day, was told that car is powerful and when it pushes back its complitely normal (when taking foot from accel pedal) any thoughts on this?

MBWorld Fanatic!
Trust your instinct and try another mechanic for a second opinion.
It's a high end Mercedes Sedan - they wouldn't sell too many of them if the car wasn't smooth as butter out of the box.

Problem solved everyone,
Issue were inlet tubes, one of them was loose and not holding in place, had to take a trip to hardware store, got clamp rings and fixed it myself, feel no pushing back and no hesitation anymore!
hope this helps anyone with same problem!

Interesting +4
I always thought that rough shiftings and stuttering on very slight throttle, with fresh fluid and correct level, comes from the torque converter clutch, or its responsible "valve" at the conductor plate, which was to small in early versions IIRC.
