I don't believe this story
A new 991 C2 only has 350 hp. The C2S has 400. While I can totally believe it'll get the better of an AMG in the twisties, but straight line?? No way !

Weight, gearing, and most important driver. Believe it. :p:
|
Yes way.

The 991 C2S is very impressive. Only the $120k sticker has kept me from jumping to one. I drove it back to back with a 997.1 turbo and I walked away liking the C2S with PDK much more than the 997 and I would not bet money that my E55 could beat it in a straight line. I would suggest test driving one with sport chrono and the sport exhaust. I'll be waiting for 2-3 year old used ones are available with big depreciation after the 991 GT3 and turbo are released.

I'd bet money our cars would kill it straight line. If not through the lower gearing we'd have the power through top end.

The thread from RENNlist says E63 not E55*

I don't know man. I've beaten R6 yamaha's in my E63, which is just basically stock with near drag tires, NT05's. It was a squid rider though, glasses, braided hair, shorts and all. I know no way in hell I would even be in the same playing field as a low 11 second bike, but it's all man over machine!

W211 E63 yes, with a 400hp 991, not a slow ass 350hp version. E55 no &^^&%^&# WAY! Slap yourself back into reality people.

porsche 991 c4s hp 400 e55 469 porsche c4s weight 3060 e55 4090 porsche c4s 0 to 60 3.9 sec e55 4.2 1000 lbs lighter and only 69 hp less with a .3 sec faster 0 to 60 better believe the c4s will give a stock e55 a real run for its money. 1/4 mile time for e55 is 12.4 heres a stock 991 running 12.4 at the track http://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche...1-ar99572.html |

Are you aware that 0-60 means NOTHING, NOTHING in a drag race? NOTHING! It also has only 325lbs of torque vs. 516 in the E55, something that seems to be missed. Go figure. Additionally, the quickest stock E55 I know of was in the high 11's. Show me the a 991 400hp that has hit that? And then of course, the E55 owner can always add on some simple mods to just take that little P-car and bend it over whenever it pleases. A friend of mine took delivery of a 350hp 991, have not driven or had a ride in it, but it sure is pretty. Overall a great car. |

Overall a great car. there arent any 1/4 mile times from car and driver i could find for the 991 so the vid was an example of a stock 991 running the 1/4. the times from car and driver for the e55 were 12.4 not high 11's. the point is the 991 is a close race and the reality is a stock e55 wont destroy nor run away from a 991. with stock # its a close race. your comment was there was no possible way a 991 could beat a e55. to talk in absolutes is nonsense. of course if you want to bend my little pcar over ill be at timmayfest in june. cmon and try!:zoom: |

thats were your ideas are skewed. any car can be modified to be faster. with stock for stock the e55 has more power but way more weight. every 100 lbs is .1 of the 1/4 thats a full sec to compete with the torque of the e55 off the line. with launch control and pdk i would guess the torque is a non issue. look at the way that car launched in the video. using all the torque available while a e55 needs slicks to get any traction

PPOWER, Concur.... Further, add a Quaife LSD on the 55, GAME OVER against the porsche.. I've Killed many in my day including GT3's....:D

It's funny how the guy says he pulled the 55 no problem. Even iff he did pull him it would not be significant at all... Maybe a fender length. My guess is "bad ic pump" haha. Best way to make an excuse for these cars when one loses a race.

It doesn't say how fast they ran too but after reading the thread I assume they shut down fairly quickly. |
