A question about mats. The oem regular "Mercedes" mats are about $120 from the dealer. They have a small mercedes metal logo on them, that's it. They looked kinda cheap and not how mercedes mats were made years ago.
Now, the same oem amg version of these mats sell for like $600.
The question is, besides the "amg" logo, are there any other quality differences? Are the Amg thicker carpet? Are the better quality than the standard Mercedes carpeted mats? Or are you paying $400 more just for an amg logo?

I also have the rubber mats but am not willing to part with those living in Seattle.

So I got my mats today. As you may remember I ordered mats from a W211 E55 (Part # BQ6680580). These are no longer available and have been replaced by Part # 66036149.
Below you will see a picture of the original E55 mats, 66036149 mats, and BQ6680580 mats... all of which fit the W211 E63!
I received the mats in the middle and for $123 shipped I couldn't be happier.

So, will they fit E55?

Judging from the pictures above, absolutely. Ebay has them listed for W219 CLS cars, but a picture is worth all the words I need. I just wish they had the heel guards.
edit: Just got them for 123.75 shipped from OE Discount Parts. Nice to see the price hasn't been jacked up over the years.

The AMG mats do appear to be better made than the non AMG mats. The stealer had to order me new mats and when they came they were not AMG. Stealer said they were same. I went out to car and brought in the passenger side mat and we compared. Not the same and they ordered me the AMG mats.
So were these similar to the Mercedes mats they gave you at the dealer? These are what I saw, and they were very "thin" and cheap feeling:
And AMG

I only pulled that one out of the bag. They are darker. I believe the label says Anthrocite on them. My color profile on this work monitor is HORRID, so I used Photoshop but may have gone nuts to bump the brightness/contrast up. They are definitely darker. I'll check on the rear logos when I get home in a couple of hours!

Great pics, but how in the world were those $125? The S class AMG mats are over $700. I don't get it. They have to be thicker or something. The regular "mercedes" mats for the S are $125.

Those new mats look great.. my latest car came with the WORST AMG mats or any mats I have seen in a while. Maybe cause my car has 70k miles but still they were so bad it brought down the interior...just so beat up and I thought they would of held up better but then again I dont know the history of the car fully.
I ended up buying a set from formymercedes.com- second time using them and custom embroidered.

Part Number: 66036149
You just put your year, Mercedes, and E55 AMG from the drop downs. In the next page, put the PN in. Done.

Just got my new AMG floor mats from OEDiscountParts. They look great and are definitely an upgrade over my last mats that were completely shot. I will edit in some pics later.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks the replacement mats pictured above are an inferior design to the originals? The overall look is cheaper, no heal pad and the carpet color/texture doesn't match that of the floors in the car...its not even close. Is this just an alternative or are dealers no longer offering the original design? I don't care about the price.

I have a brand new full set (front and back) BLACK OEM AMG mats. I know they fit a 2008 E63. They are still in the Mercedes packaging.
I will take $500 plus shipping unless you live in Seattle area I will meet you within reason.
PM if you want to discuss.
