Black 2005 E55
2006 E55 AMG Valuation
I am new to this forum and was hopeful that I could gather some advice on a purchase. I am looking at a 2006 E55 AMG with 55k miles, clean condition, and well equiped with keyless go, pano roof, nav, dynamic seats, and more. Generally speaking, what would someone expect to pay for car like this from a private seller?
Thanks!
Thanks!

after searching for about 2 months I finally bought an 07 E63.I was looking at both E63 and E55 so I think I've learned the market for both vehicles. I can honestly tell you that its all relevant to the cars you're looking at and my experiences proved that the cars are worth what you're willing to pay. I personally wouldn't pay a dollar over $23k but have seen them listed in the $26k-27k range. I would also HIGHLY recommend getting a PPI as there are many shady sellers out there. I personally have 20 years experience in cars so I perform my own inspection. Knowing the value of a car is easy once you've shopped for it for a month or so. Good luck in your search, i'm sure you'll find the one for you and will enjoy it greatly.

agreed but my figure was based on a good color such as black, white, silver etc... i found a blue 2005 with 70k miles and was able to pick it up for $16k but the color kept me away.

That could be listed as low as 25k, as high as 29k, depending on the area of he country and how motivated the seller is. Buying it for less than 25 is a solid deal IMO. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
You might find that buyers on a vehicle specific forum like this expect to see things cheaper because there's many for sale listed with each other where a local advertisement might not have much competition.

imo the pano roof would steer me away due to squeaks/rattles. I test drove 2 different 55s one with 57k and another with higher mileage and the squeaky roof would drive me nuts. Prolly worth 24k for sure.

I'd agree with the $23 to $25k for really good condition and that color combo. Many will quote low prices in the high teens (and smoking deals are out there) but the cars I saw in this range were a bit rough and felt really tired.
Regarding the Pano, mine is quiet at 7 years and 91K miles. I am picky about "noises" too! Just have to periodically lube the seals which takes about 5 minutes. If an otherwise attractive car became available I wouldn't let Pano or no Pano steer me away.

+1...I couldn't agree more (I am repeating myself here many times from other threads but again...I looked at soooo many cars) but I must add that the $23k to $25k prices DO NOT mean that they are good cars either! You had better know what you're looking for and what your looking at, to know that they are good cars in this price range of low to mid $20's!

Low 20s. From private party.
I am expecting one to be offered to me later this year; 2006, black/black, E55, US-Car, 1 owner (who is also the seller), approx 50K miles, completely stock for around $20K to $22K.
Keep in mind, this air suspension is just about nearing the end of its life at this age, so you may have to start worrying about it in a short amount of time.

I haven't heard anywhere that Airmatic has a 50K mile lifespan, and from personal experience my first e55 (a 2005) I bought with 50K miles and put another 45K on had absolutely zero airmatic issues. What are you referring to?

Results always vary, however, have you considered maybe it is not a mileage dependent issue, but a wear/tear, road conditions, and age related issue? I believe these would impact the situation very highly.

As for your other comment. I wasn't low-balling. I am expecting a car to be offered to me of the statistics for $20-22k. The low-balling hasn't happened yet.

I guess some missing details to that statement are helping it to not make sense to me. " I am expecting a car to be offered to me for 20-22k"
Assuming its not a salvage title car, whoever currently owns it could put it up for sale and get $4-6,000 more than the price you're talking about. People sell items for less than market value all the time(I have as as well) when they want to move it quickly. So saying that___ is going to need to sell this in the future, but doesn't want all the money for it, would only make sense if the car were stained with a bad title, an ugly color, needing work, or you had some undisclosed relationship with the seller making them deal with you for less.

Volvo S60R
Hey everyone
New to the forum and starting to look to getting rid of my Volvo S60R and getting into an E55. For me it is surprising to see that insurance and parts on the E55 is not higher :-)
One of the things I noticed is that when looking at a E55 pricing on KBB and then what people are expecting to get for their cars are 2 very different things. consistently I am seeing people asking 3-6K more than KBB is saying they are worth.
I can understand that when they come with an extended warranty then the price should be higher.
I do not want to start of in the forum by labelled as a lowballer, when bidding on cars for sale here, but I would like to hear some comments on what reason there might be fore asking more than KBB.
Thanks, hoping to find a E55 in the next 2 months.

did not know the two other options to price out the car... did so on a couple, and still 3000-4500 in difference....
your point about fixing sbc, suspension is fair.. but I would only grant that if there are clear shop papers showing the repair.... I would not just trust someone who saids they did it them self... basically you have no idea if they just stuck another used part in there.

Many of the cars are out of extended warranty range so one should also account for well sorted cars with up to date maintenance records. Things the previous owner has already taken care of like airmatic shock failures or fuel pumps are unlikely to happen again on your watch.
