w211 E63 AMG X-Pipe

W211 2008 E63 AMG.
I just got the car back last night. I kept the stock manifolds and stock primary cats. I deleted the secondary cats and resonator and replaced with a 3" T304 stainless. I left the stock E63 AMG mufflers on the car. I did the charcoal filter delete and added a set of K&N's in. The car feels great and sounds good to. I had to get some slip fits to go from the factory 2 3/4 pipe to 3". I have a set of headers that are going to be in the works for some R&D work. So I plan on having headers with no cats and still have to decide on what mufflers to go with. Here are few pic's. |
very nice, whoever did it, did a good clean job....
i also am in the midst of getting this done but i am keeping the resonator in, and sound clips would be appreciated |

i also am in the midst of getting this done but i am keeping the resonator in, and sound clips would be appreciated Thank you sir it sounds great with the secondary and resonator replaced with a 3" x-pipe. I had a company here called (IPS Motorsports) in Columbus, Ohio where I live. You can look up sound clips on youtube.com Here is a vid of one. Eric. |
i like it, thanks for the info

I was going to remove the resonators but this has changed my mind, I hope it sounds better in person because it sounds too raspy and american muscle car-like in the video, I prefer a more european sound. TC

once you are done with exhaust mods and headers, definitely get that ECU flashed.

Thread jack!
I'm looking into the secondary cat & resonator delete with a 3" straight back to mufflers. Much better idea than a 3k exhaust IMO. In for future results! Anyone care to link me to the eurocharged info? |
So I finally got everything finished. Headers are on (I went with custom headers to 3" outlet (still have factory O2 sensors). We had a tough time figuring out what muffler's to go with. So for right now we deleted them. I found a nice set of tips from Jegs. The car does not feel rough but it is very loud WOT. Cruising speed 70mph at about 2,000 rpm's its not bad, but when you unleash hell she screams.
Everything is full T304 Stainless system. I intend to do mufflers to bring the drone down a little. Next step were going to do a eurocharged tune. Thanks, Eric |

Any view of the tips from behind? Also, any vids of the completed setup?

07 e63 with Kleemann shorties Headers and 3" to res
I have that along with KNNs Charcoal delete and OE Tune making 473 RWHP.
My car sound really nice on first start-up like my neighbor's Supersnake Corbra. I fine that under cruise the car is just as quiet as stock. Only when you get on the gas you know something was done. my MPG went up and 1 gear is useless. Now if anyone would like to sell or give me the stock cats I would be interested. My car rear O2s are not going into ready mode and I want to make a bolt on system from my header to the res with the stock cats so I can get my ECU into ready mode for inspection. |
Your neighbors must hate you .... seriously  I have no resonators, primary cats deleted going into Magnaflows and it is freaking loud. I can only imagine what yours sounds like in person. Loud isnt always better:nix:
|
Isn't it removing muffler mean you have no back pressure hence a lost of power in low end torqued but do gain power on high end?

Too bad you arent close. I wanted to get some stock mufflers and have a virtually new set of magnaflows with quad tips on them.

Finished install, Sunday I have a photo shoot for the car. I was surprised how well it fit with the exhaust when we mocked it up.
