at 130k it's probably a good time to swap it out - did mine around 80k, the response is quicker (maybe it's a placebo)

surely someone brave enough on this forum has tried em! the old style LEDs weren't good at all, but these new CREE style are supposed to be pretty insane!

The stock OEM spark plugs from Mercedes are LFR6AIX-11, correct?? I don't want any '1 step colder' plugs or any of that. OEM only.

I got a set that you linked from Amazon. However, while reading up on LED headlights, I came across this setup from lifetimeledlights.com, which I bought as well.

http://www.lifetimeledlights.com/H7-...hts-_p_64.html

Haven't had time to install either yet, probably this weekend.

I like the fact that the lifetime lights have reflectors around the diode. They are getting good reviews around the net as well. We'll see.

Look for an update from me after I attempt the install.

I plan to do a full write up on these soon with comparison pics to my e320. Overall, my review of these are positive.

However, I believe that our projector lenses are hindering throw.

The color is excellent. The brightness is excellent. The cutoff is good. The throw is OK at best.

Give me some time to put it together. I've got a lot of household projects going on now.

you will need some bulb holders off a bmw i think people use to hold them in place... thats the only way to get LED's into the e63 fog spots

While they will fit, the plugs you are referencing in your purchase list are NOT the factory plugs:

NGK 6619 LFR6AIX-11 Single Iridium Spark Plug
http://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9871

The difference between the 2 plugs:
  • ILFR6A (factory plug; iridium center electrode, platinum ground electrode; 0.032" gap; long life--around 80-100k miles)
  • LFR6AIX-11 (iridium center electrode, nickel ground electrode--these will last maybe 24-30k miles; 0.044" gap)
Per NGK's website, if you use the spark plug finder, it notes that the factory gap is 0.032", so if you get the LFR6AIX-11, you'll need to adjust the gap, whereas the ILFR6A is pre-gapped correctly at 0.032".

You might want to correct this on your list. Great parts list overall--keep up the work!

Gents,

I bought this battery:

Aux Battery ACDelco ATX14BS (14-BS) Maintenance Free Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Powersport Battery $67

I received it and it says you have to

1. Add the acid
2. Wait one hour
3. Charge it for another 10 hours (refer to instructions)

I dont have a charger, and this stupid a$$ battery didn't come with instructions. Anyone know what to do here?????????????

Many thanks.

I just wanted to add that the Wix 46799 air filter does not fit in the air box of my 2004 E55. The filter is approximately one quarter of an inch deeper than the factory air filter and will not let the box seal properly.

Ok so the fine folks at Amazon informed me that the battery cannot be shipped back because it's hazardous. They let me keep it and gave me a full refund.

What's a fun way to dispose of the acid?

CAREFUL with these batteries that you have fill.. i did mine just as it said to do and couple of weeks later i had airmatic red death light come up... NO idea why after spending money on pumps and all kinds of none sense stuff turns out the battery had leaked acid right on the friken airmatic line and melted it what was a cheap fix costed me alot more... i ended up selling the used pump back etc and got most my money back but just careful when filling these.

I filled the battery with acid (super easy with the way they do it)
installed the battery and drove like normal - had zero issues with it.

and yes, don't try to fill the battery IN the car, I did mine in the garage (not saying Berti did that)

Here's the link for just the 8 coil packs without the plugs. $148 + $14.50 shipping.

Amazon Amazon

Has anyone tried this yet? Seeing as how the Bosch coil packs are $58 a piece right now, these are quite a bit cheaper. The seller is the same vendor that is selling the engine and transmission mounts for $100/set. I don't need coils yet, but since I'm going to change plugs soon, might as well do coils and wires while I'm in there.
