What Spark plugs should I run

I have a 2008 E63 AMG, what spark plugs should I run in my car? I heard about NGK but don't know which ones to go with and what size to gap them with.

Thanks,

Eric

Are these the right plugs to run. I herd another guy here on the board said to go with NGK LFR7AIX?

I'm running the NGK 1-step colder plugs and they work great even on an otherwise factory motor.

Serge is the man, he probably just changed his, 6043 NGK iridium think 43 thou is the gap but double check. No need to go with colder plugs. Use a small amount of never- seize on the threads. Only remove the old plugs when the engine is completely cold to avoid thread damage.

Spark Plugs .com

If you cannot find any other than the ( stay away ) dealer. Lot of shops do not carry the style required for the E63.

Sorry to hear that, but it is still a nice car....

Regarding your question, a simple search would help you find :

Serge @ Benzworks is the man, but the guy that answered is not "the Serge"

The REAL SERGE is sergs99m3

Or the OP could have read me DIY which is easy enough to find.

OR, just look it up in your users manual on page 443. It includes the gap.

I put NGK ILZKAR7A10 plugs in my 2008 E63 about 600 miles ago. Gap was set when I got them. (.8mm) Worked like a champ. Simple to install. (Torque spec for the plugs is 22Nm) I agree with the above post about making sure the engine is cold.

I am not Serge @ Benzworks but also Serge : ) ( serge718 - I am in NY / SI ). I did my plugs NGK (6043) ILZKAR7A10 last week. Got them on Ebay. I bought my 2007 E63 with 98K few months ago and have been changing parts on it like a monkey in the zoo with unlimited banana supply . Will post full list of everything done in few weeks.

I knew you were into the plugs recently, lol
Did you look into the old pcv valve to see what the issue was?
Must have been a knuckle duster to change!
Like a good German buddy of mine said, sometimes you just have to drive the car and not maintain it constantly, spoken in a thick German accent.

EGray, hopefully you put a little anti-seize on the threads of the new plugs. The old ones must have made a squeak noise coming from them when removing. Amazing from MB to spend so much time and effort when building an engine to just throw a set of plugs into it. Dissimilar metals love this oversight, to anyone who has ever pulled the threads out of an aluminum head or broke a plug off they will remember the sick feeling they had.

Ps, like the manifold colour change, good thinking.

If you want to close the spark plug gap, gently tap the node on a hard surface. If you want to open the gap, gently pry it open with your spark plug gapper.

My Jeep takes 2 plugs per cylinder, so dual spark plugs per cylinder is not a hoax.

However, this thread states that the E63 only takes 8 plugs
